NBA at Walt Disney World

Yowza! That was quite a game!! Sad for the Suns, but it should be a good play-in weekend. I think the Blazers will beat the Grizzlies.

Indeed exciting! I thought Brooklyn final play was horrendous though. If you're gonna play iso for your final shot with that much time, take it to the hole for the bucket or foul. Not a lame contested step back jumper.

For those discussions MLB Bubble...I can’t help but think that the weather in NY will eliminate it as a bubble host...living in MA, it’s hard to imagine #2020 not coming with a few major October snowstorms and another hurricane or two?
Scratch FL, if you're concerned about hurricanes. Are we talking about fanless games? Spring training and minor league facilities would work. Arizona. College facilities should also work. I wonder how many suitable locations are close enough to Vegas.

Both MLB Florida stadiums are domes. They very well could use the spring training facilities in Florida and Arizona as well. The reason they were so against them as a bubble season was the heat during July and August. But the playoffs will be September and October, so while not cool, not as hot as the summer here in Florida, so it could work.

Yes, terrible!! I was yelling at the TV "drive to the basket, DRIVE TO THE BASKET!". Lay up or foul! I think Caris wanted a Dame Time, highlight reel moment and it backfired. Is Shaq still doing his Shaqtin' a Fool highlights, because if so . . . . ?!

I loved that Caris and Damian hugged at the end of the game though, showed real respect for each other and I loved that the Blazers had to fight for that win. It was good practice for both of those teams heading into their next games because those are going to be even harder. Looking forward to Blazers/Grizzlies!

Hopefully because they seem to have gotten control of the situation that they dont nix the playoff bubble. I think the MLB needs a bubble playoff, and not just for safety, but for exposure as well. We saw how Matisse Thybulle has become an overnight sensation because of his bubble content. MLB NEEDS something like that. Trevor Bauer is doing vlogs, but they need more

In other sports bubble news, NHL Boston Bruins goalie, Tuukka Rask, has opted out of the remainder of the NHL playoffs (after 2 games in the first round best of 7 series) and is leaving the team and the bubble. I respect his decision, but definitely leaves the Bruins in a very tough place. As a Lightning fan, I’m happy to see the Bruins further handicapped, but I definitely feel for Bruins fans.

Today was supposed to be the first day since 7/26 with a full schedule as the Cardinals are back in action but now a player on the Reds had a positive test come back yesterday so their game has been postponed.

Yup. Senzel. They’re not playing tomorrow either. They have off Monday, but I would guess their series against KC will be PPD out of precaution as well

So are the Blazers now moving to the Grand Floridian? Or do they get to be the only team staying at the Yacht Club?

I believe that is the plan as their playoff series could, theoretically, go to August 30 (YC opens August 24) and the Grizzlies have vacated their rooms at GF.

As someone who was no more than a very casual basketball fan before all of this, I have to say that the NBA has seemed to make all the right moves navigating through this weird time period and made me a fan. From canceling that game as it was about to start back in March which set off what most people look back at now a turning point in how we viewed the pandemic here they have been leading the way while other leagues (looking mostly at you my beloved MLB) seem to just be blindly muddling through.

Reading this story this week only solidifies my opinion. What a great idea to use the players in the bubble as a research pool to test the efficacy of a saliva test - now I know why all of them were always getting a nasal swab and saliva swab in all of the vlogs. 😂 And now other sports leagues will probably be able to use this test to help make their seasons more successful. A win win for everyone.

That’s why these top teams shouldnt have “mailed in” the seeding games once their spot was locked. You had 4 months off. While you clinched the 1 seed by game 3, you still needed to get your court chemistry and endurance back. The Bucks and Lakers just didnt care to do anything more than clinch the 1 seed. I think both win their respective series’ but you never know in this format. I wouldn’t be surprised if the Blazers beat the Lakers tonight

Yep - Dame Lillard came to play, so did the whole Raptors squad (even Stanley Johnson).
