NBA at Walt Disney World

That is the rule in the NBA bubble They have a 113-page health and protocol document that must be followed in the bubble. We already saw, players or staff that break bubble rules have to go into a TEN DAY quarantine. The players you see in these pictures have been tested for covid about 30 times over the past 2 1/2 weeks, have quarantined upon arrival at WDW and are tested and monitored on a daily basis. They also, at this point, can only mingle with players on their own teams who, again, have been tested regularly for 2 1/2 weeks and have been in quarantine. The rules for the general public in WDW do not apply in the NBA bubble. Why? Because they are not testing and quarantining the general public. You are comparing apples to oranges in this situation.
And yet, with all of those protocols, 2 players have now tested positive within that bubble.

They tested positive in the bubble, and were removed from the bubble. A player was forced into 10 day quarantine for leaving the campus to pick up a post mates delivery. I think its safe to say they’re taking this very seriously. If you’ve seen any of the video content you’ll also see how often they’re tested. They didn’t arrive, get tested, and that’s it until they leave.

And yet, with all of those protocols, 2 players have now tested positive within that bubble.
Which is inevitable because aside from the players they are continually interacting with WDW staff who are not confined to the bubble.

Both players tested positive while in quarantine. They had not been released out of quarantine, therefore interacted with no one but the health professionals who tested them while wearing full PPE.

Any WDW staff they are interacting with are wearing protective gear and are staying at least 6 feet apart. If you watched Matisse Thybulle's show or any of the footage released showing the testing protocols, you would see how this works.

Russell Westbrook partied at the Wynn a few weeks ago . He could have easily caught it in Houston. Positive cases are high there right now too. I think James Harden was also positive. DH works in town, so he just assumes everyone is a carrier at this point.

Indeed I have watched Matisse's videos and have been following many players tweets and videos closely. And while they are all doing their best (wearing masks, keeping distant etc.), it doesn't negate the fact that they are sharing the bubble with people who come and go from that bubble. Surfaces get touched and people will not be 100% perfect at all times.

It is inevitable that *some* players will get it while inside the bubble. It's not an impenetrable bubble.

Now the hope is that those who do get it will be very few and very far between, with very strong quarantine procedures for those that do. I'm awaiting in hopes that the Raptors can bring home a 2nd Championship!

That's exactly what I was saying. There is extensive protocal and some still tested positive. It doesn't really matter how serious they take it - people are going to get sick with this set-up.

You can test negative the day you leave for the bubble, and again the day you arrive, but the 2nd day test positive. Doesn’t mean they *caught* the virus in the bubble, which all evidence points to them contracting it prior to arrival but testing negative because it wasn’t traceable in their system yet and then when they were tested in the bubble (while being quarantined in their own room) they then tested positive.

I don't think you are understanding the timing of the positive tests. They tested positive while they were in the initial WDW quarantine which means they were exposed to the virus prior to arriving in Orlando, not while they were there.

Unless the flew over on planes by themselves then they interacted with others. Also proof that these guys are being tested often, but a 2 day quarantine period obviously doesnt work.

One of the guys who tested positive was Michael Beasely who the Nets brought in and now they have sent him home and he might not even be on the roster. He came on his own and not with the team.

Also Harden arrived to the bubble last night. Lets Go Rockets.

I am not up on the NBA but have been watching all the bubble videos and we likely will watch their games since all these months with no sports (DH anxiously awaiting NHL restart). But can someone tell me when 1st round is expected to be over? And am I correct that several teams go home after 1st round...likely the Yacht Club teams?

Oh, and as a new resident of PA, and after watching Matisse's bubble videos, I am rooting for 76ers.

From now through August 13, all 22 teams will be in the bubble, with seeding games (essentially the end of the regular season) taking place starting July 30.

On Aug. 14, at least four teams will go home. If necessary, play-in games will take place Aug. 14 and 15, which would eliminate two more teams. The teams who are currently least likely to make the playoffs are at Yacht Club. If any of those teams do qualify for the playoffs, they'll relocate to Grand Floridian for the first round of the playoffs.

The first round of the playoffs will run Aug. 16-28. After that, there will be eight teams left, and all remaining teams will be relocated to Gran Destino Tower, which will be the final home for the NBA through Oct. 14.

Just to add to this - Beasley signed with the Nets on July 9 and was quarantined completely outside the WDW bubble when he tested positive. He was not at the GF with the rest of the Nets. The Nets added a number of players after the initial covid testing period started on July 23 and those players, like Beasley, are in quarantine outside of the WDW NBA bubble.
