Navy Seal Chases Down the Killers of his dog.

AND - IMO - 'two wrongs' would have been him shooting at the assailants. Which he did not do.

Actually, I feel like that would have been the "right" thing to do.

I wish the common man would get more and more angry at the punks who are taking over the streets.

Frankly, I wouldn't have had a problem with him killing all four of them, because it would be 4 less scumbags who would be around to do something worse. When people start out killing defenseless animals, they usually eventually do something worse.

We, as a society, have lost our "fight". We expect everyone else to take care of us, take care of our problems.:sad2:

He should have shot them when he had the chance. ;)

But no, he is in control of his emotions and did the right thing and contacted police.

Yeah, he's a trained Navy Seal. I think that gives him the right to handle any situation as he sees fit.

I feel bad for the dog.

I hate to admit this but I would have not only chased them but I would have run them over with my car. Over and over.

I did not read where there was any witness to the crime, or even evidence.

Lots of opinions here about how it is OK to speed, while chatting on the phone, through many countys, because of ones stature? The law does not say, "no speeding! Except for decorated war heros, or people who think they know who shot their dog."

I believe the LAW is, if they are not posing an immediate threat you call the cops. Not chase them with your own gun...

I don't have a problem with him chasing those guys down. What I do have a problem with is that he didn't shoot them when he had the chance. Especially since his training is such that he could drive safely in that type of situation.

I don't agree with what the idiots did to his dog, but I also don't agree with a wild chase through 3 counties, especially by someone who is not trained in that type of driving. What if they would have hit a child? He could have easily gotten their license plate if he was that close to the car that he had them sighted.

Two wrongs don't make a right.

With the things he's seen and the training he's had, I'm giving him Kudos for keeping his calm and not killing them on the spot. Or at least hurting them.

The chase doesn't bother me a bit because the fact that a combat-trained veteran who undoubtedly suffers from some degree of PTSD, kept his cool.

My DH wouldn't have been able to do it...

It depends on jurisdictions. He could be considered to be making a citizen's arrest and was within the law. The basic understanding is that's it's YOUR butt on the line and if a citizen needs to break ordinances or laws they can but they must prove the need for it afterwards. In this case it would be up to the counties and Rangers and it seems they were OK with it.

Listen to the audio. He clearly describes to the dispatcher what he heard, and then what he saw. He was a witness.

This man needs to be commended for his self-control. With all that he is dealing with and the nature of his training, those punks are damn lucky to be alive today. Can't say I'd be able to restrain myself as well given identical circumstances.:sad2:

Any of ya'll from Texas? You don't kill a man's dog in Texas.

The area they were speeding through were a bunch of Farm to Market roads in the very rural area of Texas. No towns other than a couple of flashing lights at crossroads. He showed tremendous restraint because he could have shot all four and buried them in the woods and no one would have ever been the wiser. It has happend for a lot less.

This is just totally my opinion, but you kill a family member, even of the animal kind of someone's while they are home, you are risking their immediate retaliation. Even if you just steal something of someone's right in front of them, they are probably going to react somehow. You kill their pet, well, what happens to you is your own fault. I also agree, there is a good chance that these guys would probably move up from killing dogs (sounds like they are linked to several shot/killed dogs) to humans, maybe kids in their own yards. Next time, it could have been a 4 year old little girl and Daddy might have shot all 4 of them. That's if we want to play the what if game, just like the he could have hit a kid driving so fast scenario.

I feel for his loss, understand his anger and reaction.

But he could have killed innocent people driving like he did over three counties. Would anybody here have supported him at the point he hit and killed another human being?

How do we know he wasn't trained in this type of driving? My brother is former military intel/counter intel and did have this type of training. He was not a SEAL since he was not in the Navy, but he did train with them during his years in the military and did SERE training as well. There are special schools/training facilities that do teach one how to properly drive like that. Who is to say he wasn't tained for this?

A chase would never have happened if it were me. There would be four guys dead in the road. Of course, that's emotion speaking, but I am just so sad for this guy. It's apparent he's got severe PTSD and his dog was a lifeline.

I can't say for sure because I have not been in that situation but my gut tells me those 4 guys would have been dead had it been my dog and I had a gun. They deserve a whole lot worse than 6 months in jail!

Poor guy has been through he11 and these cowards take away the one thing that was offering him comfort :confused3

he should have shot all of them in their crotch - that's what they would have deserved. 6 months in jail is not enough.

He did what he thought he had to do - I couldn't imagine someone killing my dog.

I'm impressed he showed so much control. Many of us would not be able to. The article reads like he fell back on his training. I read that to include the hunting down, following, and driving. I think more people would think about what they are doing if they really thought there were consequences. So many times, people are scared to stand up for what is right and end up just being victims.

I can't believe how many of you are jumping on Marcus Luttrell's chasing these dirtbags and not the idiots who were running from him. If anybody were to hit someone at those speeds it would more likely have been the jerks he was chasing, not him. They were KILLING DOGS. They ran when they got caught. They are the bad guys. He is a hero. Both in the war and now for catching those scumbags.

He has my utmost respect and admiration for being an exceptional human being.
