I'm a little confused here. The navigators' verandah in CAT 7, is that open to the air/water or does it have a plexiglass type covering over it.

Also,On DCLtribute.com, they show some "secret" cat 6's that are charged as a CAT 7, and looking at the pics I can't tell if it's open or not?
TIA :)

"Update: These rooms have been reclassified as Category 7's. (They were formerly Category 5 and Category 6.) So you may be happy to put up with this semi-obstructed view in exchange for a lower cruise fare"

All of the verandas have the plexiglass covering the rails, unless you are in the very back of the ship and have the metal hull.

The Category 7 has an open air window. In the first link in my sig below are some pictures from a Cat 7 on Wonder. The ones on Magic have a round window, but still open.

I've stayed in these rooms (There are four of them) and have one for our repo cruise. The amount of obstruction is minimal imho, and I personally much prefer the plexiglass balcony as opposed to the conventional Navigator's Verandah. If you can get one it will save you a bit of cash.

Ok, now I'm confused. I had a TA very insistently tell me that that CAT 7 verahdah's are COMPLETELY enclosed. That the oval "window" was just that-a window, with plexiglass. It looks like from your pictures that I could actually stick my head out that? Is that right? The CAT 7's are a little bit less $$ of course, and I'd have no problem getting that one if it's actually open to the air/water.
TIA :)

They are ALL verandahs. You can stick your head, foot, leg, or any other appendage out if you wanted, and there is NO plexiglass window. ;) The plexiglass I'm referring to is the plexiglass as the bottom (As in your photo), as opposed to metal so you can be sitting down and still see out :)

sounds like your TA hasn't actually been on a DCL ship ;)

He was just on of a few I was getting a quote from. Don't think I'll be calling him back though!

Thanks so much for the info. I had dropped pricing CAT 7's altogether when I first heard this. Glad to know it's not true.
