Hello out there! Got a question. What is the difference between a stateroom with a navigator's verandah vs. a verandah on the Disney cruise. Looked at the layouts and don't see much difference. Is it just the location on the ship? Those of you who have been lucky ducks and already gone on a cruise maybe you can help me out with this and let me know which you prefer. Thanks so much!!!

The Navigator's verandah is an enclosed verandah (clear plexiglass type material) The regular verandah is open with just a railing.....

Hope this helps.

You should come visit the DIS cruise board. I just booked an extended family cruise for 2005 and reading everything on that board really helped!

Anyway, I *think* that the regular veranda is perferred because you can see through it---ie. can see the water when you are sitting. It is a higher category, therefore more costly. The navigator's verandah is enclosed metal nearer the front of the ship and the view isn't as good, but hey, it's still a verandah!

HTH! Happy booking and cruising. We are SO looking foward t our trip!

We just returned from our first in a navigators veranda and loved it!! We have sailed in the Cat 6 with a plexiglass bottom and with a metal bottom. The navigators veranda has a large opening which is perfect for standing and watching people. There is a built in bench and a very comfortable chair and small table. I loved sitting out there and reading. It was cooler than the open veranda.

The navigators veranda is enclosed with metal lined in wood with a very large opening, no plexiglass on it anywhere. They are located in the aft areas of the ship. The view was beautiful, and I could see out while sitting on the bench.

Our family prefers the navigators to the regular veranda--we'll be booking it for future trips.

Thanks everyone for all your help and info!! Has helped us on our decision a lot!!! Take care.

Trust me you don't want a navigator's verandah at all. Much too confined. Go for the plexiglass :D

Sorry - just pulling your leg. Don't want to hype the navigator's too much because it is our favorite. As NCRedding says the layout is really nice and we prefer it too. We've done Cat 5, 6, 7, and 8 and 7 is by far our favorite.

Since you posted this on the DVC forum I assume you're asking for it regarding the Member Cruise. We'll be calling trying to get a cat 7. ::yes::

We have a navigator's veranda for our Nov. 2005 cruise. Thanks for the info!

Hi Mary!! Yes, we are considering the member cruise. Only thing keeping us from an astounding yes we are going is my daughters school schedule. Looks like there might be a big battle for those cat 7's. Good luck to you on the phones Saturday. If we don't make it to the member cruise, at least we now know which rooms to go for.
