Could anyone tell me the difference between a navigators verandah and a regular verandah? I would appreciate it.
Thanks.
Tom

the navigators verandah is inclosed, more like a "sunroom" while the traditional verandah is like your hotel balcony.

The Navigators veranda are enclosed but they have a very large porthole that is open. We prefer them. Instead of two chairs and a table there is a padded bench, table and padded chair. They offer a little more quiet and privacy than a regular veranda. They don't get as breezy as the regular ones with. The negative is that the bottom is solid. The rooms only sleep 3 so don't know if that is part of your decision or not.

Check out Barb & Tony's site www.castawayclub.com as they have some great shots of the rooms.

Iwouldn't call it like a sunroom persay. The Navigators Verandah has a solid bottom and an open top. If you are sitting you can not see out (unless you are really tall) as the bottom portion of te balcony is solid. But you still have an open top with fresh air like the other balconies (just the opening is a an oval instead of being square). The regular verandah has a plexiglass bottom so when you are sitting down you can see out. The Navigator verandahs are also decorated with a bench and some chair, navigational tools (compass, maps, etc) where the other verandah's are basic 2 chairs and a table. We stayed in a Cat 7 for our honeymoon and LOVED it. I personally get a little seasick if I can see the horizon so the Navigator was great for me, I could be outside enjoying the fresh air while not being able to see the horizon.

We got upgraded from a category 11 to a 7, and, oh my, we LOVED IT!!!Never stayed in a regular veranda so can't compare, but it made such an impression on us, i think we will always have to book that room from now on,it seemed so wonderfully big and at the same time cozy.
