Navigator Verandah Question

Does anyone know if there are any of the Navigator Verandah's sleep 4? I will be cruising with hubby and 2 kids - 3 & 5 and want the balcony space but think I will feel better with a more enclosed balcony.

My understanding is that the category 7 rooms only sleep 3. I did a quick check on the DCL website to be sure. For the same cruise, I checked availability for both 3 and 4 people; it listed category 7 as one of the options for a group of 3, but not for a group of 4.

That said, I think it's very unlikely that a child of that age would be able to climb out of a balcony, the rails are pretty high and covered in plexiglass, so they cannot be climbed. I don't think it would necessarily be any harder to get out of a category 7 (Navigator's verandah) room. The door from the room to the balcony is locked and hard for a young kid to open. The lock is probably at least 4 1/2 feet off the ground, and the handle makes the door tricky to open, anyway. I'd say as long as you're paying the requisite attention, kids on the balcony are not a safety issue. No more so than any other location on deck on the ship.

"new" cat. 7's sleep four , I really don't know but there are four cabins that have partially obsructed views that were moved from cat. 5 and 6 to a cat7. As for the veranda door. It is REALLY hard to open, you have to turn one thing and lift up another, I as a 40 something adult have a hard time getting out there sometimes so I would not worry about your child slipping out unobserved. Also my understanding is the opening is at the same height whether it is the traditional or navigators veranda.

Thanks for the info - much appreciated! I will look into the partially obstructed since cat 7 is a bit cheaper then upgrading to a 5 or 6.

I checked into the reclassified cat. 7's as well.
They are all listed as max. capacity of 3 people as per Passporter.

If your uneasy about the plexiglass (type) maybe think about one of the "solid" steel veranda's? They give you the more enclosed feeling than the plexiglass.
