Navigator Verandah on the Magic?

For those of you who have had a Navigator's verandah on the Magic --- does it make the room dark inside? All the photos I have seen show a dark room. Any pictures? (I have seen the one at Barb & Tony's site, the cutout looks pretty small [?])

I'm trying to decide between category 11, 8, or 7 ~ last time I had a 5. I probably have a good bit of time to decide, since Disney hasn't released 2005 dates yet. :)

It isn't dark - but it isn't as light as the full verandah with the plexiglass replacing the wood. It's nice but we prefer the verandah since our son can see through the plexiglass (he has to be picked up to see the ocean with the navigator's verandah) and it does make the room look bigger and brighter. Plus if you enjoy sitting and reading, it's nice to be able to look out at the water and horizon while sitting on the verandah.

Whatever you do, just remember it's a memory that you are making!!

Enjoy!

I have been wondering about the light issue myself. Right now I have adjoining cat 7s, but am wondering about going to cat 9s. I can't imagine that the cat 7s are any darker than the 9s, but I would like to see some different pictures than the ones on Barb and Tony's site (no offense meant !). I hate the thought of a dark room, but we had cat 6 last time and the brightness on the verandah bothered my eyes sometimes...I know, impossible to please, too dark, too bright ! The 7s look very cozy, and I keep telling myself the verandah is a great place to keep sandals and damp swimsuits...but then the comments on the 9s sound very positive !!! And they're cheaper !!! I wish DCL would just make me draw straws and stick with whatever I pick. DH is saying verandah, so that is what we're doing, but wish I could be sure. Good thing I don't have to choose just one appetizer at dinner !!!

We've had a navigator veranda on both the Magic and the Wonder and love them. You get plenty of light in the room and on the veranda. We actually prefer them over regular verandas because of the set up and the fact that you get the padded bench and a chair instead of just two chairs. Also they aren't as windy as the regular verandas.

We have had Nav Ver on both Magic and Wonder...and have another one booked for next December. We love them....you can stand and look out and not be blown away by the wind.

IMHO..does not make the cabin any darker than an oceanview cabin.....sometimes the regular varandah rooms are too hot with the sun coming in....as I said...IMHO.....

We are HUGE navigator's Veranda fans. We have been on 4 cruises and have had that catagory each time. We haven't noticed any light problems at all. We just love them!

We'd book one for our 5th cruise in 2005, but we hare hoping that we will exceed the amount of people that it sleeps by then so we are booking a catagory 6.

I love your animated gif. I am definitely talking my husband into fixing up one for me!!!!

RE: Verandahs rule, regardless of which type you prefer!

Since they haven't opened up your dates yet maybe you could try to get one of the cat 7's that used to be 6's. The obstructed view verandahs. They are plexiglass cat 6 veradahs with a larger than normal overhang of steel, due to the shape of the ship.

Barb has info on her site. It might be worth looking into! :)
