I need help with this one. We are planning to go to WDW only spending one day at AK 12/13-12/16. Per Kenny the Pirate's crowd calendar I have selected to go to AK on Sunday 12/16. 12/13 we are going to MK as we have MVMCP tickets but no other days are set in stone as we don't make ADR's until next week. I would like to plan this strategy out before making my ADR's in case the day I selected in not advisable.

With that said we want to ride Navi and FOP and they are both under tier 1 FP+. DD21 wants Navi more than FOP but I keep reading how high in demand FOP is. I would like to ride both of them. What is your suggestion to be able to do both? Would I do RD and be at the park an hour in advance and do Navi first thing or what strategy do you suggest to be able to do both of these tier 1 FP+ selections. I plan to make my FP+ selections at 7am EST when the window opens. I am on the west coast but will get up extra early to make this happen.

For Tier 2 we are selecting Kilimanjaro Safari and Expedition Everest.

Any and all advise on this one would definitely be appreciated! TIA

If you are able to get a FP for FOP and are able to RD (an hour in advance isn't necessary imo) you should be able to do both no problem. The day we did Na'vi we arrived 10 minutes after park opening and still walked on Na'vi. It was a CL 9--FOP just absorbs everyone at RD.

Get a FP for FoP and RD Na'Vi. We arrived at normal opening time when there was an 8am EMH and we waited about 45 minutes for Na'Vi. It was a quick line and worth the wait. I thought it was a very pretty boat ride. FoP, was the awesome!! Try to get on it more than once!!

So if I dont get a FP for FOP then definitely do RD for this correct? Also if I do get a FP for FOP maybe I should do RD just so we can ride it twice? What do you guys think?

If you don't get a FP for FOP you may have to RD or ride at the end of night before closing. We were there in mid-Oct. Fortunately I had a midday FP so we RD Navi. We got there about 1/2 hour before park opening on an EMH day. Everyone goes to FOP so it can be very chaotic. We were headed to Navi and were able to ride it 2x in a row with no wait. We probably finished the 2nd time around when the park EMH hours started as they were letting people on early. We then went to other areas in the park while waiting for our FOP FP time - Kilimanjaro Safaris was a walk on still so I modified my FP for that to something else. I was lucky enough to get another FP for FOP later in the day. Ultimately, you have to decide what you want to do most and plan accordingly.

Ok this is all very helpful thanks! According to Kenny the pirate's crowd calendar this should not be an EMH day. I try to avoid those due to the crowds. Of course the calendar's not posted for my park days so, it's all a guesstimate at this point.

We were there just a few weeks ago. We had a FP for FoP so we arrived at 7:30 for an 8am EMH, they opened the gates right as we walked up, it was a mad dash for those running to FoP. My family was a little concerned when I said we were going the same way. But we arrived at Navi about 7:45 and road it 2x before 8am. There were so few people going there it was crazy.

This us good to know. We did this mad dash to the frozen ride last year at EP at RD w/o a FP and got on it within 15 minutes. It was fun. We loved the rush and the fact that we got what we wanted.

My touring plan is telling me to hit Navi at 10 AM on a 9 AM opening. This is in late July. It says my wait will only be 30 or 35 minutes. Does that sound right?

Yes! If you can, get a FP for FOP and then rope drop it, as well! Even if you ride Navi standby after RD FOP, your wait won’t be terrible.

Yes, I actually rode FOP 4 times last trip in October and only 2 FP, RD both EMH, and rode Navi with less than 20 min wait right after....

If possible, get the FP for FoP, if you can't, get one for Navi. While some days, Navi has had a short line, I have been there when it gets over 60 minutes shortly after RD.
Get there early, at least 30 minutes before RD and do whichever ride you don't have a FP for at RD.
Also watch for EMHs as that also can change strategy.
