Nav Man/Tom Tom

hi

can anyone tell me if they have used a nav man over in florida, DF has tom tom and i have Nav Man. Looking at the websites the nav man has a card whilst you have to download the Tom Tom ( am i right) DF makes the download seem a lot of work i.e. clearing his tom tom and then reloading he has bought a bigger card but i can see tears before bedtime
i actually prefer the nav man

both will work equally well, you can buy the cards for tom tom pre loaded with us maps on e bay, no need to download if you are unsure.

i have a tom tom one, i am certain it doesnt come with a card, its frustrating because if i want to get usa, i have to delete uk and put on usa!! anyone done this and if so how difficult did you find it? did you have to repurchase uk when u got back?

we got our map from a bit torrent site file share site,put on a sd card and put on poi`s from ttmapsharepoi

I have a Tom tom one and the sd card is in the bottom of the machine, just push it an it pops out

mine is a tom tom one europe 22. it doesn't have a pushy thingy..

its annoying because its something i never checked when buying it, which i should have done

The newer Tomtom Ones don't have a memory card slot.
That doesn't necessarily mean you would have to delete anything if you want to add US maps, as, depening on what's installed there could well be enough space anyway.
There are 2 maps available that cover Florida:
US South East, 213.5MB, £29.95
USA 791 MB, £39.95.
To check if you have space, using Tomtom Home (I'm using version 2.5.2.60), on the second page, go to 'Show contents', and at the bottom it tells you the amount of free space available.
If you don't have enough space, then you can save the UK maps to your PC using 'Copy to Computer', then delete them on the device using 'remove items'.
After you get back you can remove the US maps then put the UK maps back on using the 4th page of the 'Add maps' menu, 'Items on my computer'

I checked our TomTom a few days ago, as advised on here! If you have the TomTom 3rd edition (without SD card) you should have plenty of 'memory'. It has 1GB and with the standard UK maps I had over 800mb left, the US South East is 213.5MB. I was worried about this too!

thanks for that!! I have backed up my map onto my pc. I dont have enough memory left because I have all the europe maps on there from a visit to france.

Will buy the us map closer to the time as I think i would prefer to take my own tom tom
