My 6 yo DD loves the Tower of Terror, but the drop sequences trigger her "hot tummy." She makes it through, but in 2001 it was a much as she could take.

With the new drop sequences has anyone with sensitive-tummy kids observed whether it's markedly worse for them?

Well first off, after two years, her tollerance for tummy turning rides might have gotten better :D

With the new drop sequences, however, there is a chance that you will be getting dropped quite a bit more than before and much more unpredictably. Every ride is different. You could get dropped only 3 or 4 times, you could get dropped like 8 times. It all depends. I would see how she does on other rides during the rest of your stay and gauge her reactions to those to determine if she is ready for the new drop sequences.

It's hard to tell. There are four different drop profiles, and you don't know in advance which one you are going to get (not sure if the CMs at the loading station know). To me, the new profiles are more intense than the old ones because the motion is less "smooth" (more stops and reverals halfway through), and the whole thing lasts a bit longer.

I recommend you either take it for a couple of spins by yourself to get a better idea of what it is like, or feed your daughter some motion-sickness medication and hope for the best ;)

Well I don't have a child with a sensative tummy but I do. ToT was my favorite ride at MGM when I was a kid but now with the new drop sequences I hate it. We were there 2 weeks ago and hubby wanted to ride so I said ok... oy! I guess we ended up getting one of the longer sequences because I thought it was never going to end! I started crying and I don't think stopped screaming till after we were about to get out of the elevator. and it really was my favorite ride about 5 or 6 years ago!
In the end I didn't get sick but I was pretty close when we got off. I agree with Kick.. maybe see how she does on other rides... can/will she go on Rock'n Roller Coaster? Also... if she's still undecided.. hang out around the hotel and let her watch... just when you think one sequence is over... they pop back up again...
:(

A friend begged me to go on in '97 (before it was changed) and I never wanted to even try it for fear of motion sickness which I get pretty easily - I agreed and had a real fun time and was happy I did it - my husband refuses to go on for fear of heights and I never had the chance to go again not wanting to ride alone - this Oct '02 I decided to go even though I had to ride alone because I wanted to see how it changed - I took a Bonine because I heard the drops were worse than before so I wanted to be cautious - it was IMO horrible!! Even with the Bonine I was nauseous!! It usually helps on rides I love but get me a little sick and definitely works well for bad turbulence on planes and seasickness but did not help much for the new drops of ToT for me!! :(
