Natural or color it?

Ok, my hair is getting enough gray hairs that you can actually notice them now. Thanks to my daughter I'm sure.
Anyway, I'm debating with myself on whether I should go ahead and color it, or be unique and let it go. The only problem is, being a female, does being unique and letting it alone also mean looking old?

What do you think?

Laurie, I think gray/white hair looks good on a lot of women, without the "old" look.

I recently started getting some gray but, only right in the front, on top and, it's not so much gray but, the texture is just STRAW. It's awful. I actually color my hair to correct the texture......go figure.

I have two friends (50 +) who have chosen not to dye their hair and they look very good. However, I dye my hair the second I see a grey hair but that's just me.

Nah, I don't dye my hair, have toyed with the idea many timess. I am very lucky, for going on 47 I have very little white hair. my mom died at 71 and was more dark then gray and never colorded it, I must have her genes. People cant believe I dont color it, I make them get close to my head to see the ones I have and tell them I am naturally frosting my hair.

COLOR!

I've been coloring my hair for probably 10 years now (started at about age 40). I wouldn't stop now. I hate my roots & get the color done at the salon avery 5-6 weeks.

I've seen some women that are gray and young and they look fine, but they are totally gray. It's dramatic.

I think on me, I'd just look like I need to do something with my hair.
My grays are courser, and a shiny bright white. They seem to glow.

My grandpa was 80 before he started going gray. My grandma was 20 when she started. I wonder if it had anything to do with having 11 kids.

Found my first grey hairs at the age of 23. I began dying it to red and have never changed it back.

I think it depends. I have a few "grays" (actually shiny stark white or silver) but for now I just pull them. I'm very LOW maintenance, so coloring is something I don't want to have to keep up with every few weeks....it kills me to get my new "do" properly trimmed every 6 weeks....but it looks good, so I go.

I think it depends on the color of your "grays" and how they look on you. My SIL's mother went completely stark white...and was absolutely beautiful! I've always said if I have to go gray, I want to look like her My MIL, though, has such a mix of hair colors...some blond, some brown, some gray, some white, that she colors and frosts it to even out the mixture of colors on her head I'll probably go NUTS if mine is like that!! As for my mom, well....she's colored her hair for the last 25 years at least(I'm only 30!) so I have no idea her true color anymore She started coloring it because it was mousy brown and she wanted to be redder....but it's been like that so long, none of us can remember what it really looks like....

I've never dyed my hair before, now it is red with grey hi-lites. I just pretend it is blonde hi-lites in my red hair.

Natural and turning gray. I think I am going to leave it and see how I gray. My mother grayed beautifully, so if I go like her, I'll be happy. My neighbor across the street is prematurely gray with the most gorgeous head of silver hair I have ever seen. This woman is striking!

I've got some grey hairs too, but I don't colour my hair. I had foils put in 2 years ago & that's all I'll ever do.

I have always had the original "mousy brown hair" so I colored before I started to gray. My youngest won't be out of high school until I'm 56, so I'm going to color at least until then!

I sing in our church choir and there are quite a few 65+ year old ladies there. I truly think of the ones who color their hair as younger. Even though I know that the lady with light brown hair with golden highlights is 70, she just seems younger than the 70 year old with white hair!

I've never colored my hair and I'm getting more and more gray. I used to pull them out until I got concerned about how many of them I was pulling. (Note: see my tag! )

I think it's a personal issue. If it bothers you a lot and you want the upkeep, then color. If it doesn't bother you, then go gray naturally and hold your head high. Who says gray can't be beautiful?

My mom is 62 and colors her hair, she looks PHENOMENAL!!! I know it isn't all her hair, but when she is gray she looks about 50 - when she dyes - not a day over 45!! I swear! I sure hope I am blessed with her graceful aging!

I haven't and won't color my hair. I am getting more and more gray.... but I'll spend that money at Disney World!!!

I stopped coloring my hair for a while a few years ago, and everyone thought I was my kids grandmother. Needless to say I went back to coloring it!!! I am a natural med brown, but I use a dark ash blond and its close to what my "true" color use to be!!
