Hello,

On a whim I tried reserving another car for my trip to Orlando Aug 2-10 to see what rates are doing at this time. My original reservation was made in Feb. for a Full Size, Emerald Aisle with Emerald Club code and $20 off Entertainment coupon = $259.68 total. Haven't been able to find anything below $300 at National since then. Yesterday, same car, same dates, same discounts = $237.13. Not a huge decrease for me but might be a big decrease for those who reserved after the Spring price increase.

Everybit helps,

My rate is still about $45 more than what I booked in May for our November trip. I will keep checking until we leave...maybe it will drop a little closer to our departure!

I am disappointed in National's rates lately. I like using the EA and going straight to the car, but not at those rates. I have a full size car booked through Dollar for $145 base rate for my Aug.8-13 trip. I will continue to watch National, but don't think they are going to drop to Dollar's rate. Thank goodness for Dollar lately.

Thank you for posting this.

Total for a full size with all taxes for 16 days $384.00

I just checked again today, and National's rate has gone up for me! Not only that, but using the Disney Club Contract ID # actually caused the rate to be higher than without it!!!!!

Nine days in Oct/Nov came up as $379 without a code. Then I used the DC code and got a rate of $397, with NO Disney discount showing up at all. GRRRRRR!!!

Gene, Donna, and CJ (soon to be using Dollar)

for some reason, on specific dates, which includes those dates which you want the rental car for, and the actual date you are obtaining the resevration, affect the ability to get the DC discount. For example, two weeks ago, I tried to get the DC discount and nothing came up, it was higher than just the regular EA rate. However, using the old DC code, I got a 20% discount. Two days ago, I tried it again, same renatl dates and I got the discount using the new code but only 5%, the old code didn"t give any discount. Yesterday, back to no discount for the new and 20% for the old. Of course, the type of car asked for affects this as well. I was looking at a minivan.

This is all due to National going to a system, like the airlines, that quotes based on expected availability for the car and dates you want.
