National Upgrade Coupons -- How long...

... have you been able to use upgrade coupons on the web site?
For years I could not figure out how to do it. Now it's a piece of cake! I had given up hope.

Not sure how long you could use upgrade on internet reservation. Even though you can enter the coupon online, some posters have said that if you use an upgrade coupon with emerald club, you will have to stop at the counter to show the upgrade the coupon. Anyone with recent exprience??

All I know is that yesterday I could enter the 2-class upgrade coupon number with my reservation, click on the "Edit Car Type" button, and there were EXPLICIT instructions to "select the car type (or whatever) to be upgraded". And so you could select Intermediate, press the button, and your pending reservation would then show the upgraded type (in this case Fullsize). So apparently nothing would need to be done onsite except pick up the upgraded class of car.

I suspect this feature has been available since the most recent website changes (6-9 months ago?) I just hadn't tried it until now.

I have exactly the same situation as you--- Upgraded to a full size using upgrade coupon. My confirmation reflects a full size car but also states "Level of Service: Emerald Aisle." Since Emerald Aisle is the "intermediate" aisle with only the possibility of larger cars, I called National and asked whether I should go to the Emerald Aisle or the Full Service Aisle. The customer service rep looked up my reservation on the computer and said I needed to go to the counter but could not explain why. I then found some posts on this board that suggest you need to go to the National counter with an upgrade coupon but I would appreciate any further explanation from a DISer with relevant experience.
