National reservation problem

I just checked mine and its the same. I reserved yesterday for a rental starting February 3rd. I wonder if there is a common theme here behind who's went up and who's didn't. When did the site switch over? I'm wondering if their new site/code isn't picking up some of the data when it was moved over.

I notice something with the $60+ change in my rates. My free day coupon is no longer listed. I had a free day applied to this reservation and it's not there anymore. I wonder if they removed the coupon and it changed my rates?

If this is the case, you can do a "modify" to the reservation to add the coupon code. Doing it that way *should* leave the base rate unchanged, and simply include the discount. That should get rid of much of the $60.

After reading this thread I checked my reservation for March 30- April 4....gone up a total of $41.53, part of it is the concession fee (Priceless code) and part of it is the base rate. I called Emerald Club and they said they would not honor the printed confirmation price, they had negotiated a new price with Priceless and the new higher price was what I was stuck with. Not happy at all with National....and whenever I check their prices for future trips they are now the highest or close to it of the airport rental agencies. I still have such a bad taste in my mouth from years ago using Alamo (when they were offsite we waited in line for a couple of HOURS for a car....crazy!!) that I am more than leery about using them!!

Thanks for the heads up. My rate went up too because of the add'l fee with 6600330.
The AmEx code on Mousesavers with the $10.00 National weekend coupon is giving me a better rate. So if you have AmEx card try that code.

My rate also went up because of the 6600330 contract id. (This added a 9.8 percent concession fee.) I tried to get a better rate and got a last minute rate for $5 less, so I cancelled my first reservation. Now I won't have to worry about the 6600330 contract id.

I just changed my ressie from National to Alamo and saved $20. I had an intermediate (ExA) reserved for $183 total for 8 days (using my 2 free days coupons--total would have been over $220). I just booked a minivan on Alamo for next week, 8 days, using the $20 coupon and my total is $167. I know I have to stand in line now, but refuse to pay the high price at National for a smaller car in hopes for a bigger one on the Aisle. (my base rate for the minivan at Alamo was $124 a week before coupon...wow).

I checked my ressie for 2/3-2/6 and it went up about $5.50 (due to the add back of the concession fee under the Priceless contract ID). So I went to Mousesavers and checked out a couple of different codes.

When I tried the general, available to all Wal-Mart code, my exact same ressie dropped about $5.50 from my ORIGINAL price (not the revised, raised price) so I rebooked and am now cheaper than I started out.

Then I checked my April ressie for our Spring Break trip. Had a devil of a time finding a good rate for that week and was originally at almost $400 for EI. After someone else posted a message that the rates had dropped a bit, I checked again and got the rate down to around $266 (this was w/ the Priceless code). After this post, checked and indeed it was up about $22.

So back to mousesavers and tried a couple of codes w/ no real success. Then realized DH has an Amex card so I tried that code. My weekly rate for Spring Break from the EI dropped $130 to $158. Now that is a huge savings. As Mary says, I'll make sure we have our AMEX card w/ us but since I reserved through Emerald Club, my usual card is in place on the ressie so hopefully all I'll have to do is show the AMEX card to the attendant.

This is why I'm on these boards all day. You never know when a post will end up making a huge difference in someone's vacation plans. THANKS TO ALL!

Ok, decided to try and modify our ressie for President's week since the Priceless contract is no longer accepted - tried the AARP (yup, i am that old!) contract; a $25 off coupon fron Nat'l for SUV's, and a better product rate from Mousesavers; took the amount from $370 to $292 - am psyched!!! Do not give up, persistence is the key!! I have a few weeks to go and will continue trying.

So glad I checked this thread again. I've been typing in different codes for the past week for our Easter trip, but couldn't get much lower than $450. I just used the AMEX code from Mousesavers and the $15 National coupon. Total for 11 days was $307.29. That's a great rate from everything else I've seen. Keep checking those rates!

:darth: I have altered the deal. Pray that I don't alter it further. :darth:

I guess I am fortunate that my weekend rental in March only went up $9. so far.

Update: I tried the American Express Contract ID and got a rate $10 lower than my original rate! I've always tried this ID but Priceless was always better until today. You can bet I printed out this confirmation immediately.

I had not used the Priceless code, so I was ok.

But I decided to check my rates!!!!! I am going May 13-20 using AMEX (Thanks to whoever posted that!) and the Entertainment book coupon and I got $186!!! :cool1: I started out the night at $246. :woohoo:

I will still keep looking, would like another $20-30 off of that number.

I have to say National customer service is the worst. We had a major problem this past October. It took my whole vacation to get it worked out! I would never rent with National again.
