National Refueling charge?

Last summer I got a postcard about National charging exactly what the going rate is for re-fuleing when you return the rental car. I can't find the postcard and I cannot remember if it is just for EA or any rental. Thought I would ask here before calling National.

Has anyone had any recent experience with this? If so, how did it go?

We usually fill up right before returning the car, but if this is for real it would be much easier.

It is for Emerald Aisle members - I've used it and it is certainly alot easier than stopping to get gas on your way to the airport.

I did the Orlando National refuel in Jan. when returning the car....no problems, was charged the same rate the gas station would have charged me.

Just a side note: not all National EA locations do the refuel at the going rates. I rented in Phoenix and thought the refuel at going rates was for EA members anywhere....Wrong, Wrong and Wrong!

I learned a $4.00 a gallon mistake the hard way. So, if anyone rents else where make sure you ask at the check out booth before you leave with your car what the refuel policy is.

Thanks for the quick replies. I will double check at the booth when we leave. Do you have to tell them you want that option or does it happen automatically if you are an EA member.

No BigDave you won't need to mention it to them. As long as the National location participates in the program they do it automatically...which is the case for Orlando.

I did contact National to say that they lead you to believe that a perk of being an EA member is the special refueling program but that they fail to mention that it is not available at ALL EA locations.
They wrote back and said sorry, we will try to make it more clear.
They then changed the web site by putting tiny little writing that states the refueling is not available at all EA locations. Not much better in my opinon but atleast there is something in writing on the web site now.

Our rental experience at Orlando went great I hope the same for you BigDave.
