OK, here is the deal......Yesterday, I was checking and comparing rates for the various rental companies. I settled on National, because it's in terminal and with coupon and contract ID, I had come up with a full size car w/taxes for $140.00. It was late, so I come back this AM to book it and now the rate is $341/420 with taxes and charges. Whats with this? I am so kicking myself for not securing it yesterday. Will rates drop again? I guess I'm going to have to go with my existing TTC ressie, because I'm NOT paying $420 for a six day rental! Any insight on this? Thanks

They're probably running low on cars? Try Dollar. I just got an intermediate for 8 days the first week of December for around $140.00 with no coupon. They're in the terminal as well. Good luck!

Hi There

I Just got an Intermediate at Dollar for $106 base price... Just also checked National and got a base price of $126.. This is for the first week of December.

National's rates change quite frequently. Kepp checking daily. It could have just been a glitch.

Thanks, I just needed to vent after all the research time I put in....I ended up going with Budget for about the same rate as I had with National. I guess I could see rates going up 20 or even 50 dollars, but more than doubling overnight just seemed to be extreme.
Thanks again!!

not that you did, but I have actually misentered my dates, and the reservation screen has come up with outrageous price qoutes! In one instance it appeared that I was keeping the car for 19 days. $140---$341 is a big jump, you might try running your numbers again? :)

the rates on National change consistently! I ended up reserving for $28/day with DC, but couldn't get my Emerald Club to work. I emailed them and they switched to the same rate with the EC.

Try checking out www.travelcouponsonline.com they have all kinds of discount codes listed for different rental car agencies on and off site at the airport. I got a full sixe at $146 for the first week in December in addition to having the perk of EC.

While we're on the subject, what is a good rate? I've never rented a car before, but ended up with coupons I found getting a rate of $241 including all taxes, surcharges and fees for an intermediate or better car on the Emerald Aisle for 11 days. I think this is reasonable, but can I do better?

In November, I have the same thing. 11 days on the EA for $208 including taxes. Just keep watching, I believe on Wednesday, this rate was available again. Now it's gone. I am using both DC codes.

I've got $180 for ten days in mid-December using an Entertainment book coupon and DC contract code for a full size on the EA. That comes to $18 per day INCLUDING all taxes and fees.
