Since, I love the "hunt" for better rates (and have done this a few times and know that sometimes when National starts to lower rates they will continue to lower them over the course of a few days or weeks), I checked again today for our early November trip. Thanks to postings on this board, I got the 8 day EA price (booked with DC discount + Entertainment $20 off coupon) down from $209 to $185 yesterday. Today, it's down to $170 ---- $39 saved in 24 hours! Still not down as low of some of you who booked early, but it's heading in the right direction.

PS. The National site was acting kind of funky for a little while, as it's been known to do from time to time. A pop-up box kept saying that with my coupon I'd have to use Counter service. But I tried again and had no problem.

KDA -

1.) What type of vehicle are you renting? AND

2.) Do you happen to know if these rates are also good for late October? AND

3.) Where is the National rental desk (ie: is it a pain to get to from baggage claim, etc...)

Any help with these questions would be greatly appreciated!!!:D

TIA:D

It depends on what codes you use for what dates a lot of the time. Try the codes listed on www.mousesavers.com
If you have Sam's club, bjs, or an annual pass, try those codes.
Sams and BJs both have some nice coupons out there. I am using my DC discount with BJ's coupon for 20.00 and my rate at National, Emerald Reserve (you bypass the counter), full size for 8 days, all taxes is 167.31.
The rental desk is one floor down from baggage pickup, no, it is not a pain to get to. Take the elevator, follow the signs and you are there.

All the on site rental car desks are in the same spot, just downstairs from baggage, so it's very easy. There's escalators and elevators. And you have to go to that bottom floor to walk outside to get to the garage to pick up the car (just across the drive way).

The $170 rate is for 8 days, Emerald Aisle (guaranteed Intermediate, but could get lucky and get larger), Disney Club, $20 off Entertainment coupon. I think full size Emerald Reserve was coming up about $184 or so for the same time period. I didn't book as early as Gail and she was able to get a better rate. Emerald Club membership enables us to bypass the counter and go directly to choose our vehicle and present coupons as we drive out the garage. It's very convenient.

When National lowered their rates 2 days ago, people with reservations in both October and November posted that they were able to decrease their rate.

Good luck!

Thanks guys!! I am calling this afternoon and will let you know what I find out and my rate!

I really appreciate all the information. :D

Sam, not sure what ES is. You can try various codes from www.mousesavers.com. Also, check out Alamo, they are having some book ahead specials. You did not say what your car size is.
so, it is hard to give an example. Codes for Alamo are on the mousesavers web site also. Sam's club, BJ's and AP holders have some good codes too, Sam's and BJ's have coupons.

Sorry, EA member....My typing is horrible.

Me too and you were close, only one letter away. :)

What contract number and coupon are you using? I know you posted them, but, who's are they?

Well, now we are narrowing things down. The code you used is from Carlson Wagonlit. I have yet to receive a good rate with that code. There a a LOT of codes out on http://www.mousesavers.com/groundtrans.html#contractid.
Do you have membership to Sam's Club, Costco or BJ's? I have found some pretty good rates with them.
Also, you might want to try some codes with Alamo. Their prices have been a little lower than National's lately and they are onsite.

BTW, you did tell me they were National's code, I just wanted to know from whom. :)

Got them off of Mousesavers...

I tried all the codes on that site till I was blue in the face but that was a few weeks ago...

I thought that there may be codes that are giving better rates.

I will go and try Avis...

try dollar with Kiss3

Thanks Gail but the best I could do for an Intermediate car was a base rate of $179.99 a week a Dollar with that code...

I guess I will stick with National, for now unless more great rates happen.

November 30th till Dec. 21st....

Tried Alamo a few weeks ago but came up more expensive. I guess I'll keep trying. We need at least an intermediate car.

Getting excited but a little anxious too. I need time off.
