National Rates Dropped for May

I just tried to book online and got a message that the site was down because of high volume and to try to book over the phone with $20 off for the inconvenience. I just refreshed the screen and was able to book online WITH the $20 off. :thumbsup2

The code: NWEBCPN027 There was no expiration date. Nothing to Clip.

I was not as lucky. :headache:
The person that answered my email said that internet coupon has expired.
The new $40. coupon that came in the email is giving me a higher rate.

THat is strange that the new coupon is giving a higher rate. What code are you using? I've been using the vacation outlet code regularly now. That one is 5042947 combined with the new $40 coupon ND1833JJF. I'm down to $296 for two week rental all taxes and fees included for EA.

OK, here's the latest. :goodvibes
I tried again, using the new $40. discount and I combined it with National 5007125, came up with $178. for 7 days. I tried about 6 different contract # and National was the least expensive.
The other $40. discount (that they told me expired) came to $172.

Weird, I am getting 150 dollars less per week for Dollar (using the KISS code) than for National so I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong if you're all getting National as the better choice. I got 40 dollars off at National and another 15 dollars off with the second code. I still can't seem to beat the KISS code?

I have a reservation with national for may 3 - 7. I am finding the best deal with 5125601. That is an american express code. We have one, but always pay with our visa and have never had a problem. It is coming up $12 cheaper than that vacation outlet one in this thread.

The April dates that I booked morning dropped again this morning! I booked April 16-27th for 215.41 everything in for 11 days! Try code 5190257 seems to work best for these dates, base rate is 119 per week! that is really low, this is for EA.

Can someone help me with this? Am I getting the best rate? I am quoted an estimated total of 278.06 for the period 5/24-6/1 picking up and returning to MEM. Can anyone smarter than me see if this is the best that I can do? Thanks!

I used a combination of codes and my rate for 9 days begining May 9th is now $199.60  :cool1:  My goal was a rate below $200. I am a happy girl now!! :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2:

Here is my "secret code"
Contract ID: 5007125
Rate/Product Code: WSAN8
Coupon ID: ND1833JJF

I still can't find a better rate for a minivan than the one I booked last month with Dollar- and that's gone up over $60 since then with the same code. For nine days my total is $280 with the KISS2 code. Has anyone found anything better?

I'm using Dollar 4/21-4/28/07 for a mini van and it's still by far my best rate ($50 higher at Budget which is the closest I'm getting). I'd love to switch to Alamo, Budget or National -- if it means I can skip the counter altogether.

Still searching.....

Did you join their Fastbreak or whatever it is? I guess you still have to go to the counter but it's a different line and they meet you in the garage upon return.

Try National, using that $40 coupon and the codes from above. I am using the $40, on a full size, but I see on the site it is good for a minivan also.

I tried that yesterday but it was still quite a bit higher than my Dollar rate. I don't remember the exact quote but it is comparable to Dollar's current rate with the KISS2 code, so for anyone booking now it's definately worth a try.

So does anyone have a link to the $40 off coupon? I'm still hesitant to use it without a printout. Thanks!

My rate dropped again this morning. Going April 29-May 11. Now it's $281 total for 2 weeks, EA, using the EA $40 coupon and either code 5042947 or 5007125 (same price regardless).

An update: I just checked my rate from this morning and it dropped another $40. I'm down to $243 for my 2 week rental EA using the above code 5007125. Folks should recheck their ressies.

Some of the things I've found from plugging any number of coupons, contract IDs and product rate codes into the National website:
- There are at least two different Emerald Club contract IDs. When I login as an Emerald Club member, it automatically enters 7232219 as my contract ID. However, if I manually enter the 5007125 EC contract ID, the rate is $20 lower for the one week time period I entered.
- AAA and most of the frequent flyer programs end up with a rate only $5-10 less than the 5007125 code. Northwest is a rather glaring exception.
- Entering product rate code WWEB actually raises the cost of the rental by $90. I think the default rate is a guaranteed lowest base rate, which is quite a bit lower than the WWEB rate. My advice is to skip the product rate code unless you get one of those last minute specials e-mails. And even then, enter your info both with and without the product rate code to see which one is lower.
- Don't forget that National is offering free enrollment in Emerald Club right now!

Yesterday, I managed to get an EA ressie for May 4-11 for $156.57 using the ND1833JJF coupon and the 5007125 contract ID. Today it had even dropped another $5, so keep looking for lower rates. I usually end up making and cancelling a lot of car rental reservations because I'm looking for the lowest rate.

You guys are great! I checked again this am and National Reserve has dropped another $11.00 from the day before yesterday...started this reservation for April 27 through May 8 for $255.xx with a $30.00 coupon and AAA code...now it is down to $189!

As an FYI the Emerald code mentioned above 5007125 and the AAA code returned the same $$ for me...I am so happy to know about this alternative Emerald Isle Code..not the default code on the site.

Thanks!

Wow! I hope August rates drop! I'm almost at $250 for an intermediate for the week. :scared1: Never paid more that $150......
