National or Budget?

I've been trying and trying to book myself a mini-van (for over a month) but obviously am not going to get one unless I book at an astronomical rate (over $1100) ... so anyways I've booked a fullsize at National right now. We always use National when we go in March and like the convenience of going right to the lot and picking up our car.

Anyways, the rate I have is $350 everything included, from a Monday to a Sunday, which is the best I've found so far. We have three adults and two children going. So National has Impalas - comfortable enough for us?

I went on Budget and found another good code for them and could book a fullsize with them for $293.00 all included and get a Taurus. I don't have that Fastbreak 'thing' so I am assuming I would have to stand in line at the counter - hate this :) - but would get FB if it was worth it.

So from others experiences is it worth it to get the fb and try Budget? Should I just stick with my National car and let it go? Would a Taurus be any roomier than an Impala??

I am so mad at myself for not booking a mini-van WAY back in April when I first started looking, but the rates were SO high I was trying to hang on. Then boom they were all gone!

Thanks for your help :) I know I am getting myself worked up over something like a car, but I am a little type A and worry about every little detail :D!!!!

3 adults & 2 children will fit, but what about your luggage? With that many people, the luggage other than small carry-ons will have to go in the trunk.

I know ... that has crossed my mind too!! I figure we'll each have a suitcase / bag, so hopefully we can cram it all in to get to the house! :) I think that the fullsize has more room luggage wise than some of the smaller or intermediate SUVs.

Holy cow thats MONDAY!!!! Have you tried priceline? That maybe your best bet. I am going to try bidding the week we leave to see if we can get a car cheaper. I know people have good luck with priceline.

Good luck and have fun on your trip!

Those are new rates popping up mmmmgood ... from Thrifty and Dollar. I've never tried either of those companies and of course that is a whole new worry too! lol

I may just stay where I am with my fullsize National! Less to worry about!

I would definitely try Priceline. It won't hurt you that's for sure. It can only get better!
