National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation

This movie is very funny, and way too real for my family...but we laugh ourselves silly every time we watch it.

Dad is Checy Chase to the letter.

Instead of "cousin Eddie", we have Uncle Tom (dad's brother) who really does show up with his family, including their 450 lb 16 yr old son, in a rusty old RV that they pull into our driveway much to our embarrasement...then uncle climbs out and yells, yes, yells at the top of his voice..."Anybody home...ho, ho, ho...we're here!" as we all head for under the beds, in the closet etc....lol.

Instead of Jelly of the month club, we can count on my job sending the 12 coffee's of Christmas...every year...

Very close to home, but very, very funny...

Lol, I just bought another copy of this on DVD this past weekend as my ex took the copy we had. I couldnt imagine a Christmas without the Griswolds.Such a great movie!

We have it on VHS, it's a classic! Just looking at Chevy Chase's face makes me laugh! :teeth:

I also love the part where the Christmas lights do go on and all the other lights go out and it takes all of the town's power and they have to switch to the extra power at the power plant!:hyper:

This is one of our absolute favorites! Love the scene in the store where the model asks Clarke if she can take something out for him. . . Then he says it's a little bit nippy in here (edited for the G rated board)

The part where Clarke is in the attic watching movies always brings a tear to my eyes, until CRASH!!!!

This and "SCROOGED" are the movies DH and I MUST watch while we are wrapping gifts. Truly gets us in the spirit of the season!

LOL - Those mugs are great!!

Keenercam - love Scrooged, too. Watched that last week - the "fairy ghost of present" is my favorite...the way she smacks him in the head with the toaster :teeth:

The first movie DH and I went to see was Scrooged when we first started dating.

Christmas Vacation rules. In my store last year, I played it non stop from the day after Thanksgiving to Christmas eve :)

My favorite parts are:

**When the grandparents first get there, Clark's mom takes Rusty aside and tells him she has a real painful burr on her toe, and he if rubbed it for her, he'd get a whole quarter. The look on his face was priceless, especially when he said, "A whole QUARTER?!" Then the grandmother starts yelling that Audrey can have a quarter, too.

**When the family is crunching on the Christmas turkey, Ellen takes a forkful of turkey, flings the turkey to the side, puts the fork in her mouth, then licks her lips like it's the best thing she's ever eaten...hehehehe.

**The whole "SQUIRREL!!" scene was hilarious :) :)

Monkeyboy- Those mugs are priceless! Where the heck did you find those pictures? I want those mugs! And I already have a relative who will probably show up for the holidays in a see-through sweater with a fake turtle neck underneath!:)

Love it ~ Have to watch it at least once during the holidays.

Great Great Great Movie!!!

"So, where did you get the tennement on wheels?"

"Nope, That there is an RV.....Dont you go getting attached to it because we will be taking it with us when we leave here next month"

Lets not forget another holiday classic....

Planes Trains and Automobiles.

The late great John Candy as Del Griffith, Universal Light & Fixtures/Shower Curtain Ring Division.

Steve Martin as Neil Page, Advertisment Salesman.

"You cant catch a people train here. People Train leaves out of Sssssscccchhhhhhnnntttttttt Stubbville"

Its not Turkey Day without Planes Trains and Automobiles and its definately not Christmas without Christmas Vacation and A Christmas Story.

In case you didnt know it. The older voice of Ralphie is the same guy who narrates the Carousel of Progress.

LOVE THIS MOVIE!! I EVEN WATCH IT WHEN IT'S NOT THE HOLIDAYS! LOL!!! ALMOST EVERY LINE IS CLASSIC.

why can't my family have some real characters like "cousin eddie"? love to see my mom hyperventilate over a rusty rv being pulled into our drive for all the neighbors to see. what fun!

We watch this movie on Thanksgiving night to really get us in the Christmas spirit. On Christmas eve we watch A Christmas Story. Both are our all time favorite movies that we do not miss every year!

About 4 years ago, but STILL watch it on TV!::yes:: I like it best when I run across it at ANY part, cause I know the whole thing by Heart!:earseek: ::yes:: (DH and I put up white Christmas lites one year....the neighborhood called us "the Griswald House."):teeth:

I absolutely love this movie! When Aunt Bethany first shows up, I love her! "She wrapped her damn cat!" When she's supposed to say grace-the blessing at the table.
And I love "The little lights aren't twinkling, Clark"
There's one very touching scene in that movie, though, that brings tears to our eyes. That's when Clark's father tells Clark how he's too good a father to be going crazy on Christmas, and that he's letting Clark recite the Christmas story-"It's your Christmas now-I'm retiring". As father passes down the torch-sniff! But overall the movie is so funny-a must at Christmas.

We have this movie on DVD and we watch it at least 4-5 times during the Christmas season. My favorite part is where Cousin Eddie is outside dumping his sewage from the RV into the drainage ditch. HILARIOUS!!!! I love the whole movie. I might have to go home and watch it tonight now.
