HI,

My vacaiton is finally getting close. We're flying into Tampa and using the EA.
Dd and I will have lots of luggage...what intermediate car will have a decent trunk.

herc.

Well, you may luck out and get an SUV--we have always used EA and have found quite a few SUV's out there waiting for us. We've had a Pontiac Aztec and a Buick Rendevous in the past two years. The Monte Carlo has a pretty good size trunk, too. Stay away from the Mitsubishi's--they were pretty compact and limited space inside the trunk. We usually have a stroller, two large suitcases and my son's smaller suitcase and we've never had a problem with trunk space. The Dodge Intrepid had a huge trunk, but I'm not sure if they still make that vehicle? We always look for the biggest vehicle we can find and don't worry about gas and mileage when we're on vacation. If it's only two people, I wouldn't worry, you always have the back seat. Have a great trip!! :thumbsup2

If you didn't use a coupon with your National booking, try plugging in coupon NU6. this gives double upgrade. Book a compact car with this coupon and the confirmation will print out "full size"

I'm not sure if this was classified as a full size or intermediate but we had a Chevy Impala and it had an absolutely cavernous trunk.

Could you elaborate a little more on "cavernous," please? We have a family of 5 (so we can't put luggage in the back seat) with at least 4 large suitcases. Do you think that would fit in the trunk? I'm actually considering driving down to my local Chevy dealer to see if my luggage will all go in the trunk! (Before I pack, of course!) :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

Tracy2cents,
That coupon would be awsome for me. Do you know if there is any way to print it out?

TO the OP...... If you book EA with intermediate be advised that sometimes you will only get intermediate...(Chevy Malibu or Mitsubishi Galant)

Most times there are larger cars but if you come in at a busy time sometimes intermediate is all that is left on EA.

It's a risk you take booking interm. Now if you book EA full size you'll be guaranteed to at least get a full size car from full sized aisle if no larger cars are on the EA.

We once had to change our ressie at the desk on the fly because we added a passenger to our trip at the last minute and all EA had were Malibus. We did find a generous National agent who let us have a trailblazer and applied our discounts to it (even though our discount didn't apply to SUV's) but i would not suggest that is the norm.

It looks like NU6 doesn't require a printable coupon. Here's a link.

Thanks for the link. But it says to present your Mileage Plus number at time of rental. What's a Mileage Plus? That's not part of the Emerald Club, is it?

If you want United frequent flyer miles for the rental, you have to present your mileage plus number when you pick up the car.

If you want to be "correct" and actually BE a mileage plus number, you can join online in 2 seconds. But they don't need your number/I.D. unless you want the miles.
