National Gingerbread Competition....pictures from judging!

Hi Everyone,

Well the judging in over and it was a wonderful experience! I placed in the top 15 overall. I got so many wonderful complements from my fellow competitors, spectators and the judges.

The competition was incredibly fierce as it always is, and this year even more so. There were 60 adult entries, down somewhat from previous years and of the 60, 35 or so were worthy of the top 10. Even the judges said that they had an incredibly difficult time choosing only 10. Several of the 10 judges had me in their personal top 10, but not enough to make it in to the overall top 10. Nicholas Lodge, the head judge and Collette Peters had me on their sheets which is good enough for me!

Several of the top 10 winners said to me afterward that they were shocked that I was not included in the top 10. One of my friends, who was up looking at the top 10 winners said that she even overheard several of them talking about why the "12 Days of Christmas Village" was NOT included in the top 10. One lady said that she felt that hers should not have been included and mine should.

All in all it was a wonderful experience and one that I will do again. I will have pictures of my finished entry as well as pictures of the judging in the next post.

As you can see....all different and all quite unique. There is one more, a train that was really intricate but I didn't get a good picture of it.

Yes I do!!!!! And it is even more ambitious than this year's design was.

Thanks everyone,

Several of the judges and other top 10 winners said so too! One of the judges said that they were arguing over the final few in the top 10 and that the awards were delayed as a result. It was oh so close.

The Food Network stopped covering the competition in 2007, unfortunately.
