National Feb. good rates!!

Hi, I was just on the National site and booked a mini-van for $199.99 per week.Each extra day is $33.99. We will pick-up on Feb.11 and drop-off on Feb.21. Both are at 6:30 pm,so I am not charged for extra hours.I also booked a Luxury car for the same price(I am not sure if there will be 4 or 5 in our party yet). But Full, Premium and Luxury were all available at the $199.99 per week. I did use WWEB as a code,though I do not know if it made any difference. I have learned to just book it when the price seems good for me and then cancel later if I get a better deal!The code for the DC also still works, but I am not sure if they will accept the discount once it is Feb. and the card has expired?? My thoughts, for what it is worth, is that if the code is accepted, they have to honor it.

We got the same deal thru National- $199/wk for minivan and $33.99 for an extra day from 2/13/04 to 2/21/04. I used the contract number from our BJ's membership and saved an additional $23. So far all the coupons I've been able to find expire at the end of 2003 but I'm hoping I'll be able to add one in later.

Btw, I checked Alamo for the same dates and the price was in the mid-six hundred $ range.

I am looking for a van from National as well. My dates are from 1/14 to 1/22. I just tried what you guys have done and I still get a lousy rate. Something like $315 wk. I tried the WWEB code and the DC code. The DC code worked but still the high rate. Can you tell me exactly what you did in case I missed something?

Anything would be a big help.

Jon It is your dates that are just a higher rate. We are booking further out than you and getting a better rate. As soon as I get my plane tickets I start looking for a good price on a rental car. You can always cancel if you find something less expensive. But keep checking National(or any other company) on a daily basis because they fool around with their base rate all the time. Which means you may find it LOWER or HIGHER! If you really need a mini-van you may have to book at the higher rate and hope that you find something lower before your trip. Good Luck! Joan
