I just reserved a full size for $211 for 10 days. I also have a 2 car upgrade from a previous post.

My questions are: Is it worth having to take a shuttle (family of 5) offsite to pick up this car (again, 2 car upgrade) and seeing that I'm in the Emerald Club, what are the chances that this rental spot will have maybe a mini van (Emerald club let's you pick any vehicle on the lot) ?

Thanks in advance !!

We've taken the shuttle to National (family of 4) quite a few times, and it really isn't any problem. If you rent from the terminal, you drive right past the National lot on your way out of the airport, so it really isn't out of the way at all.

If you have a full size rented, your reservation should say Emerald Reserve and then you'll get to pick a car from the Full Size aisle, which is all full size cars. If you have an intermediate car reserved you pick from the Emerald Aisle, which generally havs intermediates, but at times can have other car types (SUV, minivans, convertibles, etc.)

If you really have your heart set on a minivan, then I'd reserve a minivan. Since you have a Full Size rented, I'd say its about a 99% chance that you'll get a full size.

Thanks gw lit .

I checked my ressie and it's kind of weird. On the left hand side of the page it shows my car as a Fullsize (Chevy Impala), but in the main part it states my "Level of service" as Emerald Aisle and then the Base rate for the car as an "Intermediate" which is one step down from fullsize.

I guess that seeing it says "Emerald Aisle" then I'll be able to choose.

I'd rent the minivan, but this is a budget trip this year. We'll be fine in a full size, we just like the freedom of a minivan.

I totally understand budget trips!

Last time we rented at TPA with National, we got an SUV from the Emerald Aisle. Here's hoping you get something good! Regardless, you're going to WDW!

I beleve the reason your resse shows "intermediate" is because you will be paying the intermediate rate, even though you have a fullsize with your upgrade. Seeing that you are on a budget trip, I might cancel and rebook on the Emerald Aisle, because you will have a much better chance of getting a minivan then if you stay with a fullsize. Latly, Ive been noticing full sizes on the EA also....Just another thought ;)
