I just found out that the dance team championships are going to be held Jan 30-Feb3, 2004. This is the same time we are booked (family of 4). They are staying at All Star and CBR. Has anyone been in the parks when these competitions were held? Does it affect crowds or lines?
Thank you for all your great info.

I have not been there for the dance teams, but we were there at the same time as the Pop Warner football and cheerleaders. I freaked out when I heard they were going to be there the same time as we were. Good news....if someone hadn't told me, I wouldn't have know they were there. They are kept busy and they don't have alot of free time. Also, not everyone had free time at the same time, so they were not all in the parks at the same time.

I'm assuming that your situation will be similar. I was told to stay away from the All Star Resorts and that DD would be crowded. We stayed at WL and never saw them!

Enjoy your trip!:Pinkbounc :bounce: :Pinkbounc :bounce:

They don't have alot of affect in the parks. They are too busy practicing and competeing. We always go in Feb. and they are there but the lines are not really a problem. If the parks are open later in the evening that is when they usally go because the competition is over for the day.

Don't sweat it. Feb is a great time to go --- NO LINES

I went there several years ago with my brother who was in high school at the time and his marching band was in a comeptition there. I found it no different than other times I was there. If anything, the kids performances were nice to watch/listen to.

Rneighh --

I'm also going in Feb. Do they tend to close a lot down in feb for refurb?

Thanks!

I haven't ever been there for the competitions, but know several people who have - they were a part of the dance teams. From what they tell me, most of their dancers (and family) don't visit the parks as that often, as most of their time is spent in competition venue. They do venture out most during the early morning, since the competition is mainly held in the afternoon. Don't get me wrong, it will be more crowded, but you should still be able to get around and ride the rides without too much delay. Good luck!!

The cheerleaders will be there from 2/27 - 3/1, but we are staying longer. I was told by the coaches that the girls will be very busy, and have very little time for the parks. There are 4 squads from her cheer group going each with a minimum of 2-3 hour practice the day before, and they all have to stay together to support each other. They too are staying at All Star, but we're booked at the Dolphin.

I'm sure the Dance Nationals are the same as cheer Nationals. Probably see dancers on the day or two prior to the competition, then MAYBE the day after. Most squads leave right away to avoid the girls missing to much school.

Esmerelda --- We always go in early Feb. It is never crowded. The weather is up and down. Warm as 80's cool as 50's for highs. Some things are down for rehab but never alot. Maybe one or two things total in all the parks. This is the only time of year we have ever been. A long wait for us more than 15 minutes. Most rides are walk ons.

Go, enjoy and have a great time

Renee
