National Car at Sanford price hike for April 2011

What happened to the National prices at Sanford airport for April 2011?
I got an email with a last minute $50 discount coupon from National.
I logged into Emerald Isle to see if I could use it for our April school vacation trip.
The original price that I've been seeing for that week during the past 4 months was $275.
The new price for the same week, same car is $450.
Does anybody know what's going on?

Well, first, coupons don't always give you the best deal; often you have to 'test' different discounts for the best price.

But more important - today isn't anywhere near 'last-minute' for an April 2011 rental and the rental program knows that.
