To anyone that has gone into Nassau, was it worth it? If so, what excursions have you done that you really liked. My family and I are interested in visiting Atlantis. Looks like a beautiful place. Also, what are the good buys there? Any jewelry bargains?

Thanks

Sharon

IMHO, Nassau is a waste of time. There really is nothing to do there. The stores do not really have any bargains, and the people bombarding you when you get off the ship for either cab rides or hair braiding, is a total turn-off. Pretend it's a day at sea. The ship will be uncrowded, and a lot more fun.

We left the ship on our last cruise but do not plan to this time unless for a very short time. Nassau day is a good stay on the ship day if you ask me. Maybe if you have never done it you would want to just to say you tried it.

I agree.
If you have never been to Nassau then maybe you should at least get off the ship and see for yourself what people say about it.
I have been to Atlantis which was okay but it is just another big casino, so if you have been to Vegas it is not really that different. It is a beautiful place to see and the fish exhibits are cool if you like that kind of thing. The water taxi ride is kind of scary, the way they overcrowd the boats and then you have a long walk from the dock to Atlantis.
Personally having been there and done that, I would stay on the ship and enjoy it. Explore, go to the spa if you want or just relax.

WE did the Blue Lagoon Dolphin Encounter with a 4 1/2 year old and a 7 year old. Blue Lagoon is beautiful. My husband and I thought the Dolphin Encounter was the highlight of our trip. I would not get off the ship unless I had an excursion scheduled.

Unless you are going to Atlantis stay on the ship! Nassau is a waste of time, the island is not clean, the people pushy and I would never bother getting off a ship there again!

Our 1st year, we did the Blue Lagoon Day and had a great time. We did not go into Nassau.

This June, we did the catamaran sail and snorkel. We had a great time even though it rained on the way over. We went into Nassau for about 2 hours. I agree that it is not one of the cleanest or the nicest of places. However, one reason that I enjoy traveling is to see other places. I have now "been there and done that" so I probably wouldn't go back.
Hopefully, it was educational in a way for my ds-12. We all need to be reminded that everyone in the world is not as fortunate at we are.

I really enjoyed our excursions. Have fun!

Oh, I almost forgot. My favorite treasure was an ornament cut from a large conch shell. It is an angel. Prices are reasonable ($10) there are also pendants-hearts etc. It is located in the air-conditioned mall that is right near the port. Bring cash if you want to shop. They tell you that they accept credit cards, but everywhere we wanted to buy something, it was cash only not even travelers checks.
