Hello!
is there anything to do in Nassau with a 1yo and a 3yo. DH and I have been to the bahamas quite a few times and I personally don't want to get off the ship in nassau but DH wants to.

Although spending the day at the beach would be nice, I can't see paying almost $300.00 (excursion through disney) for a beach day excursion

Can you access the beach without purchasing an excursion?

I don't remember....are there a lot of merchants up and down the beach also?

What have others done?

Thanks!

I'm cruising with my 1 year old in less than two weeks. I'm considering Ardastra Zoo in Nassau based on someone's recommendation on here. That might be an option for your family.

Personally, I'd stay on the ship. The one-year old will need a lot of stuff that is easily accessible on the ship, but not so fun to tote around all day. The kiddos won't care if they get off or not. They'll probably have more fun on the ship anyway.

DH and I cruised on the Dream last Nov. My boys were 3 and 1...just like your kids :)
I had the same feelings about Nassau but we figured that we might as well get off the ship since we were there. We took an umbrella stroller for my youngest and we walked down the main road (I think it's called Bay street?) and did some window shopping. We did take a stroll through the straw market. We bought the kids some little maracas. We went back onto the ship for lunch. My oldest went to the Oceaneer's club. We tried the nursery for our youngest, but he wasn't having it. I got a text on the phone that he was upset. I did manage to get on the Aqua Duck a few times while my husband rested in the cabin and watched my little guy sleep. LOL I would suggest bringing two umbrella strollers if you have them. My 3 year old usually walks everywhere but there were times when he was a lazy bum and wanted to ride in his brother's stroller HaHaHa

We visited Nassau on our first sailing when DD was 16 months and did the glass bottom boat excursion. It was a great way to see the island and DD like seeing the fish. It was very inexpensive and very close walking distance from the ship. We were able to get off for a couple hours and then be back to enjoy the ship.

We are sailing next week and DD is almost 5. We didn't enjoy Atlantis so we are just going to walk to Junkanoo beach and swim for a couple hours and then head back and enjoy the ship. For our group Junkanoo won over the other more beautiful beaches due to close proximity and easy bathroom acess (two five year olds and beer drinking guys- bathroom was a must lol)

Other threads said the British Colonial Hilton was nice. Close to the ship too. We were going to do this before we changed plans. And we have small children amongst two families. They offer day passes which seemed reasonable. I believe the pass included food and drink credits.
