Nassau Straw Market Question

Can you walk from the ship to the straw market? How long will it take ? Is it safe?

What kind of items for sale at Straw market? Perfume , watches and jewelry or just trinket items?

We are considering staying on the ship and enjoying the pool since it's such a short trip (4 night)!

The walk is relatively short and safe, although you will be approached by many merchants, hair braiders, carriage drivers, etc. on the way. You will have no problem finding your way there.
Most of the items for sale are trinket-type stuff and souvenirs, like t-shirts, hats, straw bags, wood carvings, etc. It seems like most of the vendors sell the same stuff. There is some handcrafted jewelry, but I don't think I've seen watches or perfume.
We usually just stay on the ship because it's a nice, quiet time at the pools, but if you've never seen Nassau before, then I recommend that you at least check it out briefly.

You can walk there in about 10 minutes. We did and stayed ashore for about 1 hour. I have been to a lot of places and been hassled in a lot of markets but felt this was about the worst I have seen. You cannot browse in peace. We just did 1 isle then came out. I suppose you have to go for the experience but wouldn't go back again. All we saw was straw items.
If they only understood being pleasant to tourists would get them to sell more products this could be a descent place.
