Nassau port to Atlantis - is it walkable?

When I cruise, I love walking on the ships on deck 4.. usually twice a day, 2-3 miles each time.
On my upcoming Wish cruise I won't be able to do that due the new deck 4 configuration on the ship.
So I was looking forward to walk both in Nassau and CC.
Obviously walking in cc is easy and the island is gorgeous.

But we have a stop in Nassau and was thinking about walking from the port to Atlantis. Play in the casino for a couple of hours, have lunch there and come back.

I googled and its a little over 2 miles. easy walk for me, but was wondering...
Is it walkable, safe? Has anyone done it?

TIA.

Oh heavens no. Most of that walk is a massive cars-only bridge. I would highly recommend taking a cab from the port.

I haven't done it and can't vouch for safety, but there does appear to be a pedestrian lane on the bridge. I found this quote from a 2018 USAToday travel tips article:

Walking to Atlantis

If you’re happy to walk 2 miles (or 4 miles for the round trip), you can get to Atlantis from the cruise port on foot. Head east on Bay Street toward the bridge; then go left across the bridge and walk to Paradise Island. You’ll arrive at Atlantis almost immediately; in fact, you can see the distinctive pink castle-like landmark throughout your walk. Pedestrians do not have to pay the bridge toll. If you’re purchasing a day pass, the time spent walking could cut into your time at the resort.

Thanks so much for this link.
I googled images for this bridge and it does appear to have a path for pedestrians. I'll give it a try.

Good luck- you should also be aware that it has a very steep incline in the middle for boat traffic.

while there is a walk path, I wouldn't risk my safety on it, stuff gets pretty sketchy once you are out of the port area

I'm not necessarily suggesting you walk from the port to Paradise Island, but the walking path across the bridges are definitely doable and I wouldn't consider it dangerous. It's partly how good you are with heights when walking the bridge! But we've visited Atlantis a number of times and see walkers often. I've jogged at Atlantis regularly and have gotten to the base of the bridge, but have not had the desire to cross it - yet!!

Just remember that if you're not a guest, you'll be limited to where you can access while there - but I have no doubts they'll be happy to take your money in the casino! There are some nice eating options in the Royal and Marina areas, too, you can access. Good luck!

Thanks! - Yeah I've been to the casino a few times. But I've never walked there, always a shuttle/taxi
I'm ok with heights and bridges - hey can I ask: where do you jog in Atlantis? Is there like a track/path suitable for jogging?

A number of paths - my favorite is along the ocean, a path that's probably a mile or so from the Cove pool down to the Beach/Coral resorts. Another favorite is around the marina area - you can get down to the dock by the yachts, and that path is probably 1/2 mile from the Royal all the way out to the Point Restaurant.

A follow up to this question I had before our recent Wish cruise:
Yes it is definitely walkable. It's actually a super nice walk.

When I disembarked the ship in Nassau on Saturday I walked a couple of blocks and asked an officer if it was safe to walk to Atlantis. He said yes but it was "quite far, you have to walk thru a sketchy part of town and the bridge is very tall. I wouldn't recommend it" I said OK thanks and went on my way.

I've seen way sketchier places in America. Yeah you have to walk thru a slightly dirty part of town, full of pot holes and rundown buildings but its no big deal. I've felt way more unsafe walking in downtown Detroit or Pittsburgh than in Nassau.

Once you get to the Sidney Poitier bridge, its a very nice walk, the views from the bridge are amazing and once you get to the other side you walk thru well manicured parks and resorts.
It took me 45 minutes from the gangway to the doors of the casino in Atlantis. Could have done it in 30-35 but I walked at a leisurely pace as I didn't want to arrive all sweaty.
The bridge is quite tall at its highest point and I can see how a person could be intimated if they have anxiety or fear of heights. But it does have a walled path for pedestrians so you're 100% safe from incoming traffic.
If you've done the CC's 5K run/walk, this is a piece of cake.

Would totally recommend doing it. Especially if you're sailing the Wish and you're deprived from walking on the ship's deck 4 due to its horrible design.

I was planning on walking back to the ship but it was pouring so I had to take a taxi ($10)

Here's a picture of how the bridge looks.
