Nassau must do's and buys

We're doing the 4 night cruise in December 2004 and I was wondering what suggestions I could get as far as things to do, see or buy at Nassau. This will be our first time in the Bahamas and I've done some research on the shops, but I'm sure there are things that you can't find on the internet. What kind of awesome buys did you find? We don't plan on doing any of the excursions, just shopping. I'll also have my 10 year old daughter with us, so any suggestions for her too would be great!

My favorite was a conch shell angel. There is a shop in the main building that you go through for customs. At least it was there in 6-2003. They have items cut out of the sides of the conch shell. They only took cash.

Coles of Nassau!

Beautiful Boutique! I had forgetten to repack my dressy shoes so needed a pair. They had beautiful shoes plus they were all on sale!

They are off the main street but cannot remember the street name. Sorry.

But definately check them out!

the first time we cruised we went to Atlantis.. nice place ..waste of money.. we found Nassua not to our liking.. we just do the sores by the but do not enjoy the straw market itself..straw market and hard rock. never ventured any further. but i do hear jewlery is less expensive and you find good buys.i believe the ship gives you some coupons for items.. have fun!!

We just went in Sept. My girls (14 & 11) love Del Sol. They have 2 shops on the main street. The second one is bigger although they both had mostly the same things. They have color changing T-shirts & nail polish. They change color in the sun. The girls love to surprise their friends when their polish is one color inside a building and they go to lunch, PE etc and their polish changes color. It was $8.00 a bottle though. The t-shirts were $20ish.

I figure it was harmless enough and better than some souveniers that just sit on a shelf.
