Nassau excursions?

Has anyone been on the dolphin experience excursion? What was it like? I am debating between that and discovery cove at Seaworld as it has always been a dream for me to swim with the dolphins. I am definitely going to be doing one of them, I just haven't decided which one. Please share your experiences. Thanks

I can tell you that the dolphin swim was the thrill of a lifetime for my dd9. My dh is a certified scuba diver and even he was impressed. The interaction was fantastic. They were in the water for an hour as I took some great pictures of them. I highly recommend it.

The only thing I do know is that the dolphin swim excursion isn't available through DCL, the dolphin encounter is. The dolphin swim is when you get usually 30 minutes to swim with the dolphins in 10 - 25 feet of water and get to interact with them in their natural enviornment. I've heard it's a FABULOUS time. You have to book this directly with the vender they are at www.dolphinswims.com . The excurision available through DCL is the encounter. YOu stand on a platform in waist deep water and get to interact with the dolphins from there. We chose the encounter since we'll be traveling with young children. Both my DD4 and DS 18 months will be able to interact with the dolphins on the encounter on the swim only my 4 year old would be able to go out. Also, book it SOON!!! Both the excursion through DCL and the swim book up VERY quickly so if you reall want to do it, book ASAP!!!

Thank you for the great information. I did not know that I could book excursions in advance. I have been reading posts for the last week since we booked our vacation and cruise, and that is something I didn't see. How do you do that?

Call 1-877-566-0968, you can prebook your excursions 60 days in advance of your sail date.

Thank you Lori. My last Disney trip was pre-Internet, and these boards are great! I will be printing the number and putting it into my Disney folder.

I am still interested in finding out more about the dolphin swim. How would you get there? Would you have to book the day trip via DCL and then also book the swim through Dolphin Swims? That is all I can figure out right now. Although it looks a little expensive to do both, I will work an extra shift or two one weekend, and my husband won't mind the cost so much!

I would certainly appreciate hearing if anyone else has done this. I know there has to be someone out there who loves dolphins as much as I do!

You could book the Dolphin Swim through dolphinswims.com and then just get over to the dock where they leave, it's located on Paradise Island. You wouldn't have to book the Disney excursion unless you wanted to hang out on Blue Lagoon Island. The Dolphin Swim only includes the swim, not the use of the beaches on the other side of the island. If you also wanted to use the beaches, then I'd book the excursion from DCL as well. The Dolphin encounter excursion through DCL includes the Beach Day as well, which is why we chose that one. I found out most of this out by going to dolphinswins website, www.dolphinswims.com. Have a wonderful time on your cruise, I know we can't wait!!!

We booked the dolphin swim on our own. We booked the 10:30 am swim (I wouldn't book any earlier). When we docked we got off the boat went off the dock to the plaza and got a taxi. Don't be concerned about transportation there are a lot of taxi drivers (mixed in with hair braiders). Tell them you want to go to the ferry terminal on Paradise Island (between the two bridges). The cost was $4.00 per person. When we were done with the swim and we got back to the terminal there were 2 taxis there. We just got one and went back to the ship. We were back by 1:30.
You might check with Dolphin Swims to see if they can deliver you back to the pier after the swim (I think I read later on that they provided this for you). If this is true then that will save you time and money. Book as soon as you can. Remember that you can book your disney excursions 60 days prior to your trip. If you are wanting to do parasailing on Castaway it is a good idea to book right at the 60 day mark.
