Nassau Dolphin Encounter

That is exactly our story. We have a Canon G2 but no housing found. We normally use a Nikon D50 but really don't want to take it to Atlantis or CC on our cruise. Laxdad autocorrects everything and uses photoshop. He loves playing with our pics.

I ordered it on Ebay this am. Only place I could find it that I thought I could get it in time - the others didn't offer express shipping. Already talked to seller and they are sending it priority. Thanks so much for your help. Who'd a thunk that a thread on dolphins would give me the info I have been looking for for months!!! (posted on photo board months ago!)

Another note on the dolphin tours, if you are on the fence about doing this, DO IT! It is one of the things my kids still talk about and is a must do at least once in your life!

Dicapac makes some waterproof camera bags/housings for numerous point and shoot cameras. I just purchased one at a local camera store. Its basically putting your camera in a clear, watertight bag. It might be a better alternative to buying a new camera.

I thought about that but the Vivitar is also shock proof which will come in handy at the water parks too.

Besides getting into the water with the dolphins, do you get to swim or enjoy the beach while on the island? Passporter says lunch is included, but DCL website says food is available for purchase. What has been your past experience? Also, how do you get there if you don't book through DCL?

If you don't book through DCL, when you get off the ship, go through the customs house place and then all the way down to the right. You'll see water taxis there, for $3pp they'll take you to the Paradise Island Ferry Terminal, where you'll check in with Dolphin Encounters and wait on the boat to Blue Lagoon Island. The boat to BLI will go to the cruise dock & pick up the DCL excursion people, then pick you up at the ferry terminal. On the way back, just stay on the boat with the other DCL passengers when it gets to the ferry terminal, and you can ride all the way back to the ship. It's really easy.

We didn't bother getting a locker. We just put our stuff on the bench. It is right in front of the area where your encounter is...within eyesight at all times.

I have a detailed review of it in my trip report here: Dolphin Encounter

Scroll down just a bit to get to the post (#39)

Hope you find it helpful!:thumbsup2

I also wanted it to take on other water based excursions too...like wave runners and parasailing and to water parks. I read a couple reviews on the Dicapac thing and saw some photos taken with it. If it doesn't fit just quite right it can create an illusion that sorta makes the pic look like it was in a bubble or something. Sort of an elongated effect. It just wasn't what I was looking for...I really wanted a digital solution.
