Nashville Road Conditions ???

We are flying out of BNA (Nashville) on Saturday, 9 a.m. flight. A friend was in the Nashville area and said there was road construction near the Nashville area that was affecting travel, possibly to and from the airport. Just wondering what I can expect...

Any information you can provide will be greatly appreciated. We are leaving at around 4 a.m. to make the flight and wonder if this will be enough time. Flying SWA and need to be there at least 2 hours before.

There is a large amount of road construction and delays on I-40 near the airport. However, most of the delays and construction is limited to from Friday night late until Sunday nite late. There are detours around the construction on city streets such as Murfreesboro Road and Elm Hill Pike that will take you directly to the airport area without delays. If you need any additional info, just ask.

We will be coming thru Nashville on I-24...will any of that construction be causing us a problem?

Its possible, depending on when you are coming through. Most of the construction involves blasting rock walls on I-40 near the I-40/I-24 interchange to add additional lanes to I-40 both east and westbound. You can always detour around the construction by taking I-65 south to I-440 east to I-24 south. This is about 5 miles longer, but will completely detour the construction area. Nashville has added overhead warning signs like Atlanta has and these will alert you to any delays long before you get into the construction area so you will know in advance if a detour is needed.

They announced this morning that I-40 going East from the I-40 & I-24 split to the airport will be closed all weekend beginning at 5:00 am on this Saturday (5/21) for road construction. If you are going to the Nashville Int. Airport, be prepared to take the detours I mentioned above.

On the way to WDW we will be coming thru about 7pm on a Saturday night.
On the return home will be very early on a Tuesday morning (probably around 1am)
Guess we will just have to kee our eyes open and watch the signs.
