nashville construction

We're driving to FL from IN on April 2. Just did this last June and was able to avoid construction delays in Nashville thanks to a DISer from Nashville named Mike. Anyone have an update and a route to help me avoid traffic delays?

There is still a lot of construction on I-65 north of town (Rivergate area)...most of the delays seem to be in the northbound direction now. They are also doing work on I-40 which is a total parking lot in both directions at rush hour (good news is you don't need to get on I-40)....As far as I know I-24 east is OK. A Nashville native that drives it every day might give better advice (my mom and DS live there and we make the drive once or twice a month)....we avoid I-65 north at rush hour and try hard to avoid I-40 anytime. You should be OK heading south almost anytime.

I think they are still working on I-24 south of Nashville. Just assume it will be a disaster LOL!

I suggest you look here. They do give warnings if they plan to close something.

As long as you aren't coming through on a saturday or sunday it shouldn't be too bad, up that way on the weekends lately they've had a lot of closures or down to 1 lane causing big backups.

I don't know of any construction on I-24 south of nashville but that doesn't mean there isn't any, I do know there isn't any between Nashville and Murfreesboro currently, further than that not sure.

If you are coming through on a saturday or sunday there really isn't any way around it at this point, all the roads from that direction are under some kind of construction
