Hi Everyone

Well i am planning a trip to disney either in march or next November. I am more leaning on November. I want to go at the end so i can see Disney during it's Christmas season. I have already been there for Easter and Halloween. So i want something different this time. :rotfl2:

But I am going on my husbands business trip this October to Nashville I am staying at the Gaylord Opryland. :hourglass Does anyone know anything about nashville and this Hotel. :bounce: We are going without my son, kind of like a second Honeymoon. :love1: Any infomation you can give would be great. :teacher:

Also what about my Next November trip to disney. Is this a good time to go? Is the park really lit up nicely? :moped:

Thank You.... Nancy

There is a lot to do in the hotel itself, great restaurants and such. We particularly like the Irish Pub, but then, we just love a pub atmosphere. There are lots of boutiques and shops and there are boats to ride and a set of fountains that perform to music(I think they still do that!).

Next door to the hotel is a Mills Mall(not sure if you're familiar with the Mills concept malls) lots of walking/shopping, movie theater, etc. Also, if you have a free night you could do the General Jackson showboat, it's a dinner show that cruises the river.

Can't think of anything else right now, but if you have questions, ask away!

hi-
We have not stayed at the Opryland resort, but we have visited the resort for the day. You will enjoy it. The lobby-atriums are all unique and beautiful. The restaurants in each one overlook the beautiful view of the atriums. We spent a whole day looking and shopping. We then went to the Opry Mills mall next door and had dinner at the Rainforest Cafe.
Downtown Nashville is all about the Music Row and the Country Music Hall of fame. These are great fun even if you are not a big country music fan.
The rest of the city seems a bit depressed. The only other place we went in town was the replica of the Parthenon. My son was studying Greek history at the time, so that was interesting.
There is more to see in the surrounding towns, but that takes a car and some time....Have a wonderful trip! ::MinnieMo

I just got back Sunday from a trip to Gaylord Opryland. It's a very nice hotel - but it is HUGE. Count on getting lost a few times!

It's really beautiful inside. I can't believe it is like a whole city under glass.

We loved the Irish Pub. My roommate went three nights in a row - the two guys who play the music knew her when we walked in. We also stopped at a couple of other bars. The drinks are very expensive.

I did the General Jackson showboat with a group - the food wasn't very good. The entree was salmon (which tasted old and very "fishy") and steak (which was the texture of shoe leather).

One night we had dinner at a club on the top of a bank building - it was great.

The shopping at Opry Mills was just okay - not as good as the outlet shopping in Orlando.

Nashville is a GREAT city and the GAYLORD is AWESOME!!!! Don't forget to check out the GRAND OLE OPRY you can buy tickets through ticketmaster so check out who will be there ahead of time! Also, don't miss the WILDHORSE SALOON and the HARDROCK cafe both are must sees! We saw a terrific play about Patsy Kline when we were there too at the RYMAN AUDITORIUM what a beautiful place!

The hotel is SO beautiful! See if you can get a room with a balcony! We had one and LOVED it! Great for a 2nd honeymoon.

It is HUGE and you probably will get lost, but anywhere you go is a pretty walk! :rotfl:

The Mills Mall is a nice mall, we walked over there from the hotel and we also visited the Ryman Auditorium. If you have a car, the Country Music Hall of Fame is nice. Ask at the front desk, I'm sure they offer tours and shuttles, but really you could just stay at the hotel and have a great time!

Hello there! I hope you have a great time in Nashville, I was born and raised there and it is a beautiful city. However, the hotel is located outside of Nashville and is a bit of a drive from downtown. If you do not have a car, be sure to check out the hotel's shuttles to Music Row and Broadway. A taxi will run you MAJOR $$$.

You will probably have enough to do between the hotel and mall, but if you are interested in other things, be sure to check out the Toy and Train Museum, The Frist Center, which has amazing art exhibitions, funded by Senator Bill Frist and Family, and while you are down there you will be very close to Broadway and the theme stores and bars down there. If you have children, the Cmberlain Science Museum is great fun.

Have a great time! And let me know if you have any more ?'s.

I live in Nashville area and there will be plenty for you to do. No one had mentioned The Hermitage, Andrew Jackson's home, but that's a nice thing to do as well. Lots of great restaurants to try outside the hotel, too.

Let me know if you have questions or if I can be of help! :earsgirl:

I used to live in Nashville and when I go back I love to go to Shopryland. (Opry Mills Mall) It is a beautiful mall with tons to do. I havent been back since the Aquarium resteraunt opened but we are going to try to go next time we are back. Take your son the the Bass Pro Shop because they have a beautiful waterfall display there with fish. They also have a great big movie house and tons of other things. If you like to dance try the Wildhorse Saloon downtown. They used to have water taxis that take you there...not sure if they still are. Have a great time.

REALLY? Awesome! We're in Nashville at least once a month! Thanks for mentioning! Do you know where it will be in Opry Mills?

As everyone else has mentioned, the Opryland Hotel is gorgeous and huge! Make sure you have an atrium room! We love sitting out on the balcony overlooking all the greenery. It's beautiful during the holidays if you ever get a chance to go back.

Opry Mills has lots of cool restaurants too like the Rainforest, the Aquarium (owned by same folks as Rainforest so if you have a SFC card you get discouts there too), Jillian's, Alabama Grill, Johnny Rockets, etc. We have also seen several IMAX movies at the Regal cinema.

Yes, you'll need a car to get downtown and such but last I remember it also cost $10 per day to park at the hotel (if this is a busniess trip hopefully that will be covered for you).

I don't know if you are sports fans or not, but the Nashville Predators open their NHL season at home on Oct 5 and also have a game Oct 8 (we'll be at both). They have games throughout the month so if you're into hockey, give it a try. Titans tickets can be very difficult to get.

Also, the Country Music Hall of Fame is a neat place (downtown across from the Hilton Suites and teh Gaylord Entertainment Center). The exhibits change a lot so you can go several times and still see something new.

Another of our favorite things to do is to see a show at the Bluebird Cafe. Even if you don't like country music, we enjoy hearing the stories behind the songs. It's really cool to hear a song for the first time ever at the Bluebird then a few months later hear it on the radio for the first time and "Remember when". ;) This has happened to us many times and once that song went on to win all the awards that year for Song of the Year, but we heard it first on the day it was put on hold by an artist.

I just happen to be going to the mall this Saturday. :moped: WIll have to check out the Disney outlet. :cool1: I do hope it is better than last years. All the merchandise was from Disneyland and I thought it was priced rather high. I could get stuff cheaper from the disney store. Know your prices on stuff before you go.

Please let us know how it goes. We have bought a lot at the outlet stores in FL but they had mainly stuff from the WDW parks. We used to have a Disney Catalog Outlet in Boaz, AL but it closed years ago. We always got a little bit of everything there.

I was SO disappointed that the Disney outlet wasn't open yet when I was there.

My favorite place was The Cosmetic Store. I never used to go in that store until a friend took me. They sell a lot of the left over "gift with purchase" items for a great price. I thought it was just Estee Lauder makeup.

They have Estee Lauder, Clinique, bobbie Brown, and a couple of other brands.

So is this a catalog outlet or is it the travelling outlet place that we usually get??? Wow, I wasn't going to the mall this weekend, but I am now! If it's the travelling place it will only be merchandise from DL/CA because they can't sell WDW stuff on this side of the country, not sure why, that's what they told us last year when they were at Hickory Hollow.

it was my mom daughter and niece I cant reember waht part of the hotel we were in---yes it is huge!!!!

but we had a little balconey--every monrning my mom would go on the balcony and she'd always say its not so hot here (meaning warm wise the hotel is beautiful)

Id always have to reming here that even though it looks like your outside with its flowers and pathways your still inside!!! :rotfl: :rotfl2:

we'd always have a good laugh over that

I sure miss Opryland theme park that was so fun

As far as where it is to STride Rite etc.. I think I was near the Build a Bear place... I can't remember really.. ask at Customer Service.. that place is so big ....

I know its a store to stay.. its not the traveling one...

Our Disney store said that to me earlier this month.. they are a Disney Store Outlet.

Have fun!
