I have just been diagnosed with NASH a very serious form of Hepatitis and I am so scared. Has anyone been sucessfully treated for it? Apparently it is from untreated diabetes that I never knew I had either. I am so worried. I have been seen by my MD and several specialists but no one tested me for these things and now I have advanced liver disease. I will be 42 next month. I have two kids and I am so afraid I will not get to see them grow up. Any advice would be appreciated.

Did your doctor say that you had hepatitis or fatty liver disease? I don't think they're the same. (I think it's called impaired hepatic funtion, not hepatitis)

I was just diagnosed with fatty liver disease. My doctor put me on a low fat diet. I'm not sure this is the best way to go, but I'll try it for a while. My mom has/had this as well. She also found out she was pre-diabetic. Her nutritionist put her on a controlled carb/diabetic diet and she's lost 45 pounds. Between controlling her blood sugar, exercising and losing the weight, her liver function counts are back to normal and her sugar is also in the normal range.

My whole family has problems with their weight. I just found out that my brother has this too. He says that his numbers go up when he gains weight and his numbers go down when he loses weight.

Unfortunately for you and me, there's no easy/quick cure for this. It really can only be controlled through diet and exercise (Blech!). But the good news is that it can be controlled.

DH was told he had a fatty liver as part of his lupus. He researched it on the internet and found a supplement called "alpha lipoic acid". After a month of taking it, his numbers went back to an acceptable range. He considers it a miracle cure.

Both. The ultrasound showed gall stones and advanced fatty liver and the doctor sent me a not showing my labs back within normal range but noted I have N.A.S.H. =Non alcoholic steahatic hepatitis. I was hoping someone survived it.I am a nurse and what I found on Medline and liver foundation is really really scaring me.

My husband also has NASH. HE is 42 and we also have 2 children. NASH is caused by fatty liver disease that was never treated, and causes everything to "go out of wack" your body thinks it has diabeties, but really does not. He has started to exercise a few times a weeks, nad has lost about 15 lbs, and his liver function test have all gone back in the normal range. If he gains any weight, his enzymes elevate and his blood sugar goes all wacky. Hope this helps if any questions jiust ask

just wanted to send you a hug :goodvibes

and to say that in addition to all the other steps you'll take to lick this problem, be sure to think positively. i believe a person's mindset has an impact on their body. :goodvibes :goodvibes

His ultrasound is also bad, and his liver bx was awful also, but the GI dr. said a lot has to do with exercisr and weight control also. he has a liver bx every 6mths wich is bad enough, but we are showing some imporovment each time. of cours we were told if it gets out of control and we cant get a hand on it, we will be put on the liver transplant list. so we are doing everything else posiable. we are also a medical family, i am a nurde, and he is a paramedic, so they really have to explain in detail for us, because the around the bush does not work for us. let me know if i can be of any help

For those who develop cirrhosis, fatty liver, hepatitis C or liver cancer, they cannot taste the happiness of being healthy however rich they are. During the battle of fighting against all these diseases, patients have to fight them to the end everyday.
However, patients with cirrhosis, fatty liver, hepatitis C and liver caner don’t always have to limit their diets; in contrast, they can enjoy all kinds of delicious foods, go shopping, go traveling, and have a hot spring bath and so on. All of the above can make them fully understand the joy of life.
