On the Sonoma thread I stated I was mulling an idea.

An idea to keep our Dis-Board thread fun, competitive and fresh.

ToriLammy, our original Hostess, allowed the All Star race in the 1st half of the season as an opportunity to make amends so to speak.

We all know that sometimes life and what nots (computer problems) get in the way and we might miss a week. Or, we might have a week of picks that are bad....real bad.....

However, we never had anything similar for the second half of the season.

In as simple as I can make it, here is my idea for a second half make-up.

The Chase for the Sprint Cup begins at Loudon, New Hampshire on September 20th.

We use the five races previous to the start of the cup chase for one pick (no spares) per race.

We will call this "The Pick 5"

The 5 races are:

1. Watkins Glen on August 9th

2. Michigan on August 16th

3. Bristol on August 22nd

4. Atlanta on September 6th

5. Richmond on September 12th.

You are allowed to a NASCAR driver once in the Pick 5.

EXAMPLE: Say I pick #48 J Johnson for Watkins Glen. I cannot use #48 for a Pick 5 in Michigan, Bristol, Atlanta and Richmond.

I CAN use #48 in the regular weekly Dis-Board "NASCAR PICKS!!" threads as oftn as I wish.

You may edit your Pick 5 post as often as you'd like UNTIL the qualifying at Watkins Glen begins.

After the qualifying at Watkins Glen begins, NO FURTHER EDITING will be allowed. Further editing will result in forfeiting all your Pick 5's.

No spares! You go with who you pick. If you made a pick and that driver doesn't qualify, you will be assigned a '43' in the scoring.

This is strictly voluntary.

Your picks will be scored by their place finishes in each of the Pick 5 races. They will be added up and divided by 5.

Your score will replace a missed week .

Or, if you haven't missed a week, your score will replace your worst week (just like the All-Star Race)

That's pretty much the idea. What's your thoughts?

I was thinking....

How will I know if this idea is acceptable to all of you or not?

Here's what I decided....

I'll post the url on the Sonoma thread and every "NASCAR PICKS" until Watkins Glen.

THIS THREAD WILL BE THE OFFICIAL 2009 'PICK 5" thread.

(Or not :) )

Because...We have 40 or so regular pickers. If we get around 2/3 of our regulars to post a 'Pick 5' here then we will adopt it in 2009.

That's about what? 26 and 1/3 posters?

OK! If we get 26 posters, the Pick 5 is agreed to. OK?

If you have any questions, comments are concerns please post them here, PM me or email me.

OK! My Pick 5 picks are:

1. Watkins Glen #24 J Gordon

2. Michigan #99 C Edwards

3. Bristol #18 Kyle Busch

4. Atlanta #48 J Johnson

5. Richmond #14 T Stewart

Let me see if I have this right, once those 5 picks/races have completed, is that score tallied and it replaces a bad score?

Yes VegasNative...

After the 5th race...the Richmond race...I'll tally the Pick 5 results just like I do a regular weekly score...

Then, if you haven't missed a week....it replaces a bad score...

Happy Girl....you pick five different drivers for five different races....

I think I've got it. Let's say, for the sake of making sure I have this all straight in my head, that the following happens.

Using your picks, Jeff Gordon finishes 3rd in the Watkins Glen race, Carl Edwards comes in 8th at Michigan, Kyle Busch is 5th at Bristol, Jimmie Johnson wins Atlanta, and Tony Stewart is 2nd at Richmond.

You would then tally the result of your drivers in each of those races the same as you would for a normal 5 picks in 1 race, for a total of 19. Your ranking score would then be 3.8 and would replace any missed or bad score for the second half of the season.

Did I get it? If not, feel free to 'splain again. I'm not always the brightest crayon in the box. :rotfl:
