#11 is the defending champion.

Yikes. I did terrible!!

OK - NASCAR newbie here (or at least I have never paid much attention). I watched both the Indy 500 (phenomenal but marred by all the red flags towards the end - they need a legit rule for what to do if that happens so late in the race). Then I watched quite a bit of the CC 600 today. WTH? So many questions that maybe you can help me understand;
1) Why are there mandatory yellow flags at regular intervals?
2) Why is the race broken up into 100 lap segments?
That's just the race format. Then there's the hot head that wrecked on purpose and the guy who forgot to put the lug nuts on the wheel. In my world both of those guys get relegated to the stands if they are allowed to be there at all. But you know - NASCAR. This is not my world. I am but a visitor.
