Will Dale Earnhardt Jr's support Fahrenheit 911 cost him the support of fans?

Dale Earnhardt Jr. has urged his fans to go see Fahrenheit 911. One conservative page is now urging people to boycott Dale Earnhardt.

Does Dale Jr.'s support of Fahrenheit 911 affect your opinion of him? Can a Nascar fan enjoy Fahrenheit 911?

I hadn't heard this, but I think a little political diversity would be good for NASCAR.

I LOVE NASCAR and I am a Dale, Jr., fan. I am also NOT a Bush supporter. One doesn't have to be a conservative, a Republican, or a Bush supporter to be a NASCAR fan, for sure.

Good for Dale, Jr., for standing up for his views.

Most of the Earnhardt Jr. debate has been whether NASCAR gives him preferential treatment. (Caution flags a just the right time, no fines for aggressive driving etc....)

Off hand, I can't think of any driver's political views affecting their popularity.

I did a search for anything on Dale JR and Fahrenheit 911 and came up blank. Could you provide a link to your info if you found this on line or tell me where you heard it? Thanks.

As for Jr losing fans - doubt that will happen. Back in May during before the All-Star Race Jr made a joke about voting for Kerry but he was talking about voting his brother Kerry into the All-Star race. His mentioning it worked in that his brother was the highest vote-getter so his fans do listen to him (Kerry wrecked and was not longer eligible but had he not wrecked JR's fans would have gotten him in the race). Fortunately or unfortunately (depends how you look at it) a lot of his fans are teenyboppers, most of whom will not be able to watch this movie without parental permission

Dale JR's support doesn't really affect my opinion of him (okay maybe a little). He's a driver or racer, he's not really anyone special that would influence my decision as to whether to see the movie or not. It's Jr's position as a celebrity that allowed him to urge his fans to see the movie. I disagree with celebrities doing that so he may have lost a little of my respect for trying to use his celebrity for a political statement. But he won't lose it all unless he starts campaigning for Kerry

As for a NASCAR fan enjoying the movie, guess that depends on the fan There are a lot of NASCAR fans and it's a very diverse group so I'm sure there are some who will enjoy the movie.
