NASCAR Fan & Disney Cruise HELP!

I don't get it? Martha?

In our circle, he's just called a darn good racer, who can drive anything with wheels. :)

Martha... as in Martha Stewart. (Just give him the rolling pin and the apron.) Actually, I really like TS and can appreciate his talent (and his temper- its great to see someone with attitude every once in a while), but am a dyed-in-the-wool #8 fan, as his sponsor is my employer... he is a great ambassador for a great product and a great corporation!

Other cruise lines do a NASCAR cruise with a few (usually 'less-successful' drivers) during the off-season, but I think a DIS'ers cruise would be more fun... with our without drivers. (Besides, its too hard to cruise during that short off-season that also happens to be the holidays!!!!) As much as I am a race fan, I'll miss a race for a 7-day cruise... its a good trade off.

Hi all, lovin' the fan(atics) of disney and nascar.. nice to see many people having the same interests as myself. Having small dillema. will be in cocoa beach for annual vacation (not too far from Daytona) during the week before the 500 trying to talk hubby into going to the 125's.. do ya figure i could get tickets at the track on Thursday? Can't buy ahead never know where i'll end up we are driving and plan on getting to there on Wed.. never know with weather and all.
will be in Disney the following week and couldn't convince him to do the 500.. we'll be watching from a bar or in our room on the 20th

Thanks if you can help.
Kate

Cape... I PM'ed you about race tix

Tix for 125's (or 150's this yr) shouldn't be an issue. It is never sold out being on a Thursday.

As for OP would recommend XM radio, works awesome and you can listen to all the races and all of qualifing. And last year they started to carry audio from the Speed Channel shows also.

Do you realize...............

38 days till the Daytona 500!!! :jumping4: :jumping4:

Go Mikey and Junior (and Kyle and Kenny S)

I've heard of the XM Radio, but never looked into it. Can you please give me some information, i.e., where to get it, costs, how it works, fees.....?

This sounds like a great alternative for us! :flower1:

Just counting the days to the Daytona 500!

Yes, count me in as a Cruisin' NASCAR fan. We live about 4 miles from Michigan International Speedway and travel to Charlotte for the Coca Cola 600 and Bristol for the August race. Of course we go to the Michigan races as well.

Who is your favorite driver(s).

I am a Rusty #2 fan and Dale Jr. #8 fan.

Hey Cindy,
We are BIG Dale Jr., and Martin Truex Jr. fans!!! NASCAR just keeps getting more exciting. I think we should get together a Nascar fan cruise........

I was waiting for someone else to answer your question because we did not actually buy it, but here goes....

For our birthday, my brother in law bought us the home kit which is a receiver which plugs into different devices. For example, we have it set up to receive the XM on the stereo in the LR. We bought a boom box ($99.00)which accepts this same receiver to listen to XM in the bedroom. We need to get an adapter for the car. I think most people have at least 2 of these receivers, but for each one it is a $9.95/ month charge. I think you can have up to 4 receivers and then the price goes down to $6.95 a month. The good news (for us)is that included in our gift is the monthly charge, so I think they just added us onto theirs.

I really enjoy it more than my husband. I love talk radio and I can get my 'fix' anytime I want. THere are 2 NASCAR channels. They play old races when there are no races on-kind of fun on Sunday afternoon to put on the radio and listen to the engines.... The music stations are good also. No commercials and they always tell you (on the digital display) who sang it and the name of the song. I really like that.

We brought our boom box with us to WDW this past Dec. It worked well in the car (used the boombox), but our room faced north so we were unable to recive the signal there.

Here is the link (be sure to look at the programming schedule).
XM radio info

And yes, a NASCAR cruise would sure be fun.

Favorite drivers are Junior, Mikey W, Kyle Petty and Kenny Schraeder.
I have some least favorite (like the new driver of the #5-yuck), but I won't mention them.

By the way, you are all welcome to join the community board thread to be starting soon for Daytona!!!

I am a huge Dale, Jr. fan, but then again, I do work for his sponsor. (Loved him even before that, though.) Love Truex too- he's a New Englander like me... not many of those in the sport! (Ricky Craven deserves a good break, too!)

There is a NASCAR cruise - I think its on RCCL, but its really expensive- some of the drivers (usually not the better ones) go. Honestly, I don't need the drivers to be on the cruise... the fans can just all have fun together!!!!!!

You named my favorite drivers as well but I missed the "new" the first time when talking about the #5. Terry Labonte is my all time favorite!

I agree with Karen - a fan cruise would be lots of fun!

Mary- don't you agree- the Double Scoop cruise would be perfect... we're both on it already!!!

You need to come visit for the Rolex in 3 weeks... Terry and Bobby are driving together.

Karen - yes the double scoop cruise would be a great one.

Thanks for the tempting offer. If only we had the time and money!

Since I am also a huge Nascar fan I feel your pain. But, You are going to have so much fun on the cruise I'm sure your family will forgive you for missing the one race. Just enjoy! Hope everything works out.

Hmmm...love reading all these posts! Maybe a Nascar cruise is something we can set up through one of the Disney-related travel websites (i.e., Dreams Unlimited, Small World Vacations, The MouseforLess, etc.)...would be fun to do it next year--IN THE OFF SEASON!!!!! (Just so we don't miss anything!)

Our #1 driver is the BIG 88--GO DALE JARRETT and running close 2nds are Elliott Sadler, Mikey, and Bobby Labonte.....

When is everybody cruising next? Maybe we could set one up after everyone interested has done their next cruise already......

36 Days till Daytona

XM is the way to on the ship .... we have 2 units, 1 in Ginny's Jeep and the other I just got for Christmas which is the new MyFi, the handheld radio, which is perfect ... comes with a home/car kit as well and you can take it anywhere with you ... it also has a built in FM modulator which allows you to transmit through just about any type of radio without the use of any wires .... modern technology, gotta love it !! The driver is Kurt's younger (and can you believe more arrogant) brother Kyle Busch.
We call him 'the shrub'. Terry Labonte is going to the #44, driving for the same team.

So do we!!!!

In terms of the off-season for a cruise, that doesn't work for me... DH works for DIS(Daytona Intl Speedway... not DISney), and by the time the 'off-season' starts, they are gearing up for SpeedWeeks. Our vacation times are limited to April & May, or late-July thru November (yes, that would be hurricane season).
