Narnia Attraction - I know I'm the only one, but...

I know I'm pulling up an old thread but has anyone been back recently? I LOVE the whole set of C.S. Lewis books and the movie. I will be sooooo disappointed if this "attraction" goes away before my trip, and I don't go until Feb. 08! :sad1: If you have seen it lately, is it still the same and have you heard any rumors of it being replaced or maybe enhanced?:confused3

I think the best way to appreciate Narnia is to think of your favorite book. If Narnia is your favorite book series then this works out easy. Imagine if you could step into your favorite book and come within inches of the props from the book. That would be amazing. I have never read the Narnia series but I saw the movie and thought the exhibit was well done. But if I imagine that they ahd done the same thing with Harry Potter (a series that I love) it's a different story What if I could step into that world. That would be amazing. It brings the Narnia exhibit into a whole new light.

still there. still the same. shall i contribute a few of my photos?

Thanks HdnMickeyGrl and bradk.

*****OMG! Harry Potter is probably the only series I like better than Narnia! Wouldn't that be the ultimate if they did something with the Harry Potter series? *****

I've read all of the negative threads about how disappointing the Narnia attraction was, but especially after seeing Brad's pictures (Thanks Brad!:goodvibes ) and your comments (HdnMickeyGrl), I am so hyped to see it.

Hope it stays for a while longer!

Thank you for the updates info and the pics! My DD is so looking forward to seeing this attraction and I'm glad she'll enjoy it :)

:sad1:

I took all the negative reviews from here and walked right past it but took photos of the kids outside with the winter scene. Now I regret and wish I took the plunge and went in. Instead we saw The Walt Story and enjoyed it alot. If it is there again next March we will definately go and see it.

I doubt it will go anywhere, as Prince Caspian is set to be released in 2008. I only see it growing, no going away.

I love the books and the movie, but the walk-thru was lame. If you hadn't seen the movie yet it was great for advertising...but that is about it.

Thanks so much for sharing the photos Brad! We missed this last year & hope it will be there next year when we get to go back.

My family is very happy to know Narnia is still available for viewing. We are big fans of the books and felt the movie was wonderful!! This will definitely be on our must do list for May...:thumbsup2

Wow! Are they finally allowing photos or did you have to sneak these in?

I desperately want to record it on my cam.

i wasn't aware photos weren't allowed? just not flash photography.

in fact, that first photo of the wardrobe, I was let in by CMs during a performance specifically with the intent of taking the photo (i was completely in the dark when I took it).

Awesome. When they first opened it, they wouldn't let people take photos or videos. I'm wondering now if they've changed their policy on videos.

Last year it was closed for some reason. I was really disappointed we didn't get to see it. Narnia is the stuff childhood dreams are made of! What I love about it, is the fact that I enjoyed it as a kid and now my son enjoys it too!
I really can't wait to see it for myself. I try to not let negative feedback impact my "to-do" list. I really want to try it for myself before forming an opinion!
Thank you for sharing the pictures! I am so excited! :yay:

Another person who loves the exhibit here! I went in with 0 expectation and from the moment I saw the Wardrobe (those carved panels are amazing) to the end where the cast member nearly had to push me out the door I was in love. My ONLY complaint is that the movie they show is less of a promo or overview and more of a mini-movie of it's own. If you hadn't seen the movie it was too short to make complete sense, if you had then it was too long. But that might have been b/c I saw the exhibit right after a week in which I'd watched the movie 5 times. That's not normal for me (only seen it twice since then) but just how it worked out. Anyway, fave part might be seeing "Narnia, Lantern Waste Set" stamped on the back of the flats. It made me fell, just for a moment, like I was possibly part of the film crew. :)

I saw it last December. It was cold in FL, so dd was wearing a winter coat. Made the lamp post picture out form more authentic.

IIRC, the policy on no videotaping or photography is because of copyright issues with the filmed portions of the presentation.

That said, you can also count me as one who loved the attraction. My only complaint was that it was too short and felt like an afterthought more than a fully-realized attraction. Still, I can say I got to walk through the Wardrobe into Narnia -- something not everyone can claim.

And again, IIRC, the attraction will be changed to reflect characters and sets for Prince Caspian next year. But honestly, beyond that, I'm not sure Disney really thought out how the entire Narnia saga will transition to film. Specifically, I'm not sure modern audiences will be able to accept the Calormen, who always struck me in the books as caricatures of Moslems (and you know how relaxed and easy-going Moslems are about such things).

I loved the Narnia attraction! Yes, I know there really wasn't a lot to it, but when I was a kid, that was one of my favorite books. I used to daydream about finding a magic wardrobe and walking through it to Narnia. And with this attraction, I was able to do that.

And I know this will make me sound like a complete dork, but when the doors open and I saw the trees, the lamppost and the "snow" on the ground, I cried like a baby. It was as if the whole scenario had been plucked from my brain and I had been allowed to live out a childhood fantasy. In short, for me: it was magic.QUOTE]

Ditto!

I'm so glad to hear that this is still open and that it's worth looking at--the Narnia books have been my favorites since I was 9! Thanks for the pictures, we're not big movie fans and were wondering whether we'd that much to enjoy at MGM, and this is something to look forward to!
