Narcoossee's

we visited narcosees and loved it. Our reservation was for 7:30, we were seated at the window overlooking magic kingdom across the water. We were on the dining plan so of course we ordered the most expensive entrees. My daughter and Mom had the whole lobster. My Dad and I had the surf and turf. It was delicious and a huge portion. The filet mignon was a very good cut and cooked perfectly.
I also ordered calamari for us to share even though it was not included on the dining plan it was only 12.00 and worth every penny it was prepared well. We had the almond crusted cheesecake with cherry sauce for dessert-the best dessert we had on our trip. We finished eating at 915 walked out on the deck and watched the electrical water pageant go past on the lake and then took the boat over to Magic Kingdom. We made it in time for the fireworks at 10pm and spectomagic at 11pm.The park was open extended hours that night so we had plenty of time to get on all the rides also. I thought it was worth the 2 dinners each on the dining plan-it is a signature restaurant.

Thks for your great review of Narcoosees..

I myself would substitute the lobster for scallops, but DH and DS love a great lobster tail...

I assume it is lobster tail, correct?

Thnx so very much! Narcoosees sounds DELIC!!!!!!!:goodvibes :goodvibes :goodvibes :goodvibes :goodvibes

I substituted scallops :thumbsup2 for the Turf so it shouldn't be an issue. The lobster tail will not disappoint in presentation or substance.

Anyone getting an appetizer: I highly recommend the crab cakes.

There are often questions about attire. I say dress up a bit, but be comfy. My mother is more old school and got dolled up. I wore comfy dress slacks, thin short sleeve top and sandals. Our 6yo wore khaki shorts, short sleeved button down and white sneakers. We were fine in the AC and on the deck. We took the boat over from MK and the GF dock is right outside Narcoossee's, very easy. We were there at the end of August 2007.

For lobster snobs, let me just point out that the lobster tails are not from north Atlantic waters, while the Whole Maine Lobster is. So the flavor of the two is actually different. Nothing wrong with it at all, but if you love New England lobster, you may not enjoy the lobster tails as they are not the same thing.

We (me, stbDH, and 3 boys ages 5,7 and 8) will be eating at Narcooses at 8pm (actually 7:50) on December 22nd. Any idea if the Electrical Water Pageant pass by for viewing during our dinner? I'm so excited for this ressie!!!!

We did Narcoosee's two trips ago, and I made the mistake of ordering all the specials that were not on their regular menu. Not that the meal was bad - it was rather good. While I can't remember what appetizer I had, I did order a whole red snapper. When they delivered it to the table, it was two feet long with scales and bones et al. It was delicious to eat, but way too much work.

We're going back on our next trip, in a sense, for me to redeem my ordering capabilities and try a few of the dishes that they're known for. IMO Citricos is the better of the two at GF, but we'll save that for another night.

I completely agree with this.

We went for my 35th birthday.

Service was fine, but not great by any means.

Food was spotty. We had four surf and turfs and one whole lobster. My lobster was tasty and MUCH better than the surf and turfs. Those that got the surf and turf felt that they'd have done as well for the food at Red Lobster.

The view is amazing!

The interior is pretty. It's too big and wide open to be really romantic, but it's pretty.

We also did Jiko and when we went back in March our group all insisted we go back to Jiko, but nobody requested Narcoosee's.

This is a special place for us as we dined here on our honeymoon. We have since been back many times and now bring our DD's (6+7)

Fantastic dining exerience and while it's not overly fancy it has a nice feel to it. Great wine selection and the view of the lagoon is great.

Service for us has always been attentive and professional. It's not a huge place and as noted the meal is around 2 hours if you go app/entree/dessert.

For those who are bringing children they do provide coloring pages and when it's crowded it does had a slight noise to the place as it's so open.

Our last dinner here we did a Wishes cruise after and it's one of the best Disney memories we have .. absolutely perfect evening.

Although Citricos is my favorite Floridian restaurant, I can't say I've ever had a bad meal at Narcoosees. Yummy chow and lovely ambiance, specially if you like the water. I don't think we've ever had bad service there either.

We went to Narcoossee's in Dec '06 with a party of 9 people who are 1)very experienced high-end diners and 2)a challenging table to serve. It isn't that we're food snobs. In fact my favorite food is a well-grilled hot dog. The problem is, well, we're all family and we all think we're funny. Don't get me wrong, we generally are funny, but I think that we are a handful as a nine-top.

So please take it with that in mind when we unanimously rate that meal as one of our best meals out ever. Quality of food, quality of service, quality of location, quality of view. There was not much to say bad about the place. The waiter didn't miss a step when my father-in-law ordered "the cheapest Chardonnay you've got". He wasn't flustered when, after bringing this bottle to us, I rejected it and asked for something, while still "cheap" (wine by the bottle is not cheap), was something that we'd all had before and we knew we'd like. He guided us toward all of the best things the restaurant had in the food department. He told us not to mess around with the tails and get a whole lobster for the table to share to "surf our turf" since we had so many people ordering surf and turf that it was about the same cost and way better. He helped us discern which specials were good and which specials were "special". He dutifully sent us out on the veranda to enjoy the fireworks and had made sure that the kitchen flamed our entrees so they'd be freshly cooked when we got back.

The food was memorable. Relative to other places I've eaten that were expensive and were supposed to be great, the food was memorable.

The window seats are nice, but not necessary. Remember, all of us chuckleheads seated next to the kitchen are just going to go outside and stand in your way for the fireworks, so don't get wrapped up in it. It's cool for a couple of minutes and then your food comes and you're not really looking out there any more. Especially if it's dark out.

The bar is open as a bar. For those looking for a romantic meal, you need to realize that the place is all hard surfaces and has a bar in it. If it's busy, it's going to get loud.

It is a great place if you want to have a really nice meal and be yourself, however you come. If having people around you "being themselves" is a problem, try to stay away late January '09 when I plan to be back with my in-laws ordering "the cheapest Chardonnay" they have. This time, I think I'll just let them pour it. I can't imagine it would be bad.

Jeez, I hope not.

It came by around 9pm or so in late August and I can't imagine it would be sooner than 8pm even in the winter, so hopefully you'll get to see it. Just check with your hotel concierge that day to see the schedule. Even if it come before your ressie, just arrive a bit early and head out there to view it before getting seated. Our 5/6yo boy was totally taken by the parade.

2 Questions:

  • If we get a window seat, will the people that stand outside be blocking our view come time for the fireworks?
  • If you don't have a window seat, and you're in the middle of your meal, can you step outside to see the fireworks and then come back to your table?
:thanks:

Luv eating here.. we try to make the reservations close to the firworks time..

I don't seem to read much about this place. We are eating there in a few weeks. Any thoughts? thanks

Went there in April for our 25th Ann. We loved it. Food was great and service was great very nice CM and nice Atmosphere.:thumbsup2

We always order the Maine lobster at Narcoosee's. No need to bother with lobster tails, which are something very different. But, since it's now $58 a lobster we're passing on Narcoosee's. I've eaten there numerous times, often with a good friend who grew up eating Maine lobsters on the Jersey shore. Some of the lobsters have been okay (they are supposed to be 2 lbs.) Most of the time, however, they've been on the small side, more like 1 1/2 lbs and sometimes have been tough. $58 is too much to take a risk that the lobster may only be fair at best. So, we're skipping Narcoosee's when we're there next week.

Choirchic -- Yes everyone stands outside and in front of the windows so it is unlikely you'll see the fireworks from your window seat, even if you get one. Besides, the view of the fireworks is better from outside. Your waiter will help you time your meal so you can go outside to watch. Just ask.

Thanks Elizabeth B!
Does this also hold true for the water pageant?

I plan on making ADR's for this restaurant for May and its one of the restaurants i'm most excited about. I've heard a couple not so good things but I've heard way more good things about it. It just looks like a beautiful restaurant with a great view of the castle and the menu looks decent and like me and DF will get the most for our 4 table service meals (2 each). CG looks beautiful too but menu doesn't appeal to me that much, I could probably find something on it, but DF is way more picky than me.

**And thanks for posting the pictures, they are lovely**

   Just adding some more love for the place

Oh and the Crab Cakes, OMG. If I had been paying OOP I could have skipped the Surf and Turf (excellent though it was) and just had like 10 plates of these.

Gorgeous inside and excellent staff, love the place :thumbsup2
