Dh and I are doing a sans kid trip for our anniversary and I'm trying to decide where to dine the first night. We are staying at the AKL lodge for one night and this is the night I need to decide. I am going back and forth between Jiko and Narcoossee's. We've never been to Jiko, but we ate at Boma this past May and loved it. Narcoossee's we did 2 years ago and I hated it.. the service was awful, my lobster and steak were dreadful, but I've seen some recent reviews that say it's better now. Which would you do ?
Thanks!:flower3:

I've been to both restaurants many times, with my most recent meals being earlier this month (you can see my thoughts and current menus here).

Both restaurants have recently received new chefs - Narcoossee's received the previous Jiko chef, and Jiko received the previous Yachtsman chef. I think the corresponding menu changes have been positive for both restaurants. Right now, I think the choice is win-win, but I'd suggest Jiko since you'll be at AKL anyway. :)

Jiko was my favorite meal of our last trip, and will someday go again when I stay at Kidani. Narcosses I could live with out, the only thing I like is to watch Wishes from the balcony.

I have not been to either, so I can't say which I prefer personally.

But- we are taking our 20th anniversary trip in January (our first without kids). So we, too, are plannning some nice (character free!) meals.

We are planning on Narcoosees one night, because I love seafood and want to have the lobster. But we are also planning a meal at Boma, because DH really wants to try the food there that is more varied than what we usually get with the kids.

If I were in your position, I would plan Jiko for the AKL night. IMO, it would be so romantic to just be able to stroll back to your room after a nice meal. We will not have that luxury, as we are staying at POR. (DH's choice-he loves the theming). While I like POR, I am not looking forward to taking the monorail to MK and then having to ride home on a crowded bus to get back to POR after our nice dinner at Narcoosees.

Enjoy!

I've been to both and absolutely recommend Jiko. The menu is more interesting, the service is outstanding and if you're staying at AKL, it's SO convenient. I think Jiko might be my favorite signature, but because we've only stayed at AKL once, we just don't get there often. The only thing missing is a water view (can't have everything!)

We've been to both and I'd give the edge to Jiko based solely on the dining experience. Add to that the fact that you are staying at AKL and that would seal it for me. It will be a leisurely walk to the restaurant, and back "home" afterward. No need to spend time traveling to Narcoossee's.

Note that I'm not saying Narcoossee's isn't a good restaurant. Its actually very good and does have at least one advantage - the ability to see some of the MK fireworks from its deck.

We've been to both and liked them equally. Since you're staying at AKL for just that one night, I recommend Jiko this time. It has a more unique menu and even though you've been to Boma, it's very different.

I'm going to vote with the pack - Jiko's! Make it easy on yourself without having to drive and take full advantage of staying at AKL! Happy Anniversary.
