Who has the correct pronunciation of this name?

And, does it translate to something (here's your chance to be creative because I will believe anything you say)?

@Cramden is close, but left off the all-important accent. But he gets a gold star for best language-related joke of the day.

nar COO zees

The zees/sees distinction is very slight.

From an old Orlando Sentinel article (Narcoosee is an area in FL) "Narcoossee's origins are clear-cut: experts and local people alike say it means bear. Morris says it originates from the Creek Indian word nokose, which means bear."

Regardless of how you say it I would recommend skipping this location. If you are going to eat at GF go to Citrocos. You will thank me later.

Really!? I've seen much good about it....food lousy, service stinks?

Everything about it is fine. It's not bad, but it's not great. The food, service, environment, etc. are all... fine. Unfortunately, they are priced like everything should be very good to great. At least that's my thoughts. It's better than most TS restaurants, but doesn't quite live up to being a Signature. It's like if apps were $1-$2 less and entrees were $7.50 less, I'd be more positive about it. Again, just my opinion.

We ate there last year for the first time and thought it was great. It was the only place my DH wanted to make sure we ate again this year.

I wonder if I'm numb about prices since I'm from NY (Long Island) where EVERYTHING is overpriced........?

That comes up one my other Disney forums a lot. People from certain metro areas with significantly higher costs of living tend to be OK with Disney food pricing. It's not on par with the majority of the country's pricing, but it helps those select people avoid the sticker shock since it's fairly normal in their areas.

We loved it. We were on the dining plan, and timed it to go out and watch wishes at desert time. One of the best steaks I've ever eaten! This was in 2014.

We also enjoy it. Atmosphere is nice, service is great, food very good. Grew up in Brooklyn, we’re used to paying high prices for food in Manhattan restaurants, so no sticker shock for us LOL

:sunny:

We ate there in December, food was good and service was fine. We found the atmosphere to be lacking. We thought it would be closer to a signature, maybe quite with less kids etc.... I found the atmosphere was closer to something like Via Napoli or another TS in a park. Kinda loud, very squeezed in, lots of hustle and bustle. Not that we wouldn’t eat there again, but I’ll have different expectations.

Laughing :). The spelling CAN be a bit of a problem....

Narcoossee's - "narCOUSees's" (narCOUsees- nar as "narwhale", cou as in "cousin", see as on the "Sea"). Accent, second sylable...

Background? A little unclear.... best I have found is this....
