Narcoosee's ... attire, etc.?

Tell me about the atmosphere here... what is the general attire (i.e. is it acceptable to come here from parks or do we need to dress?) Is the food as great as the menu looks like it is? Three of us are lobster eaters... just give me general opinions. We are a family of 5 with a 17 y-o DS, 14 y-o DS, and 11 y-o DD.

Notice it say "guidelines" and then has a small list of what is actually prohibited. So if you are wearing anything other than what is prohibited, you can certainly get in. Should add that we rarely see anyone really dressed up at Narcoossee's--most folks are very casual.
The restaurant itself is good, with good food and a fine view of the fireworks at night.

Thanks very much, Uncleromulus. I wasn't aware of the posted dress guidelines on Disney's website. That is tremendously helpful. The menu looks so fantastic to me that I just wonder why everyone isn't talking about it! I can't wait to go there.

We are eating at Narcoossee's on the final evening our December honeymoon, followed up by Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party.

We ate at Nacroosee's last September and had a fantastic time. Being a signature restaurant, it definently has a more upscale feel, but you don't have to dress up. I'm sure many people come from the parks. I'd prefer not to go in a t-shirt and shorts, but men are definently wearing khaki shorts and a polo shirt. A lot of women wore capris. I threw a nicer shirt and a wrinkle free skirt in our backpack and changed before we went, but my husband wore the same khaki shorts and button down shirt he wore to the parks all day. There were a few kids in the place, but mostly adults. A while ago there was a podcast review of the place and they liked how it was so high end, without being fancy. You'd certainly be overdressed in a formal dress/tux. Just remember that everyone there is on vacation. We'll be there in about 3 weeks and I just can't wait!

Great to hear!! We are eating at Nacroosee's twice on our upcoming trip, and I am wearing new jeans (not torn) and a nice blouse. YUM!!!

we've eaten here several times - usually we'll change first (DH into a collared shirt and nice jeans, me a blouse and skort) - but we've also gone straight from the parks (with DH in a plain tee and shorts, me in a plain sleeveless tee and skort or capris) - either way, we were dressed fine - some people will be more "dressed" up (maybe they're celebrating something) but as long as you don't look like you just came from the water parks, you should be fine

I just ate at narcoosee's on August 29th. First time I have eaten there and I really liked it. DGdaughter (14 yo) and I both wore capri pants and a nice top.

The menu and the food were very good.
When Wishes started (9pm?) you could leave the table (we were told it would be fine, they would just hold your place) and go outside to the wrap around porch and watch Wishes ,the music is piped into the porch so it was really nice.

I would definately go back. I would say it was very nice for adults/teens. I probably wouldn't go with DD, and my 3 little DGsons (4,2 and 1yo). Would rather do CM or CP with them. But that's just my opinion.

Last time we went we saw it all, sportcoats, dresses, polos, shorts and t-shirts. Just dress comfortably within the WDW dining dress code and you'll be fine.

Lots of women in dressy skirts and tops and sundresses. I don't think I saw a man that wasn't wearing a jacket or a polo.

I agree, we've eaten there twice last year and both times I wore capris and a nice top and hubby wore a collar shirt with dress shorts (docker) and both times we were more underdressed than anyone. Most women had dresses on and all of the men had long pants. Did not see any jeans on anyone. A few men had ties and jackets on. This place is much more upscale than most. We plan to eat here for our anniversary and I will be taking a sundress and dress sandals next time. We had a great time and will go back.

The atmosphere is very nice here. The attire is in my opinion not the way your dress for the parks. Nice pants or capri's and a nice polo for men & top for women is good. You don't need to over do it. I think they call it business casual. The food was very good. I had the lobster it was really good. I definately recommend this place.

I've eaten at Narcoossee's about 11or 12 times now, and cannot recall EVER seeing a gentleman in a jacket. In fact, that's a rare sighting at any WDW restaurant except V&A.
I almost always wear shorts and a polo, and have never felt even remotely out of place.

This has generally been our experience as well (not just at Narcoosee's). However one evening we dined while a large convention group was there - lots of corporate attire, as well as a small special event group (rehearsal dinner?) that was in suits and dresses. Remember GF also has a convention facility, just like CR and YC/BC so sometimes you'll get that crowd and their attire is often much more coroporate business casual than disney business casual.

Good point. One time I did see several men at California Grill in jackets and women in nice dresses. They were at a table right near us, and it then became clear they were locals just getting off work and celebrating a birthday.

We are going for DH's bday dinner later this month. I will be wearing a nice dress (church nice, but not formal or semiformal) and DH is going to wear a nice white collared button shirt and nice khaki shorts. I think we'll blend in well!
