Napping at WDW

The people mover is good if the CM's let you stay on the ride. We got kicked off once when we were trying to deal with a sick child. There was nobody waiting, no line and the CM made us get off.

Hall of Presidents is always a favorite and TSI is good too. Get on the train and ride around MK, the CM's do not kick you off the train and you can make as many circles as you like. If the train does not get them to sleep, get off at the front entrance and take a boat over to Ft. Wilderness and back. The boat ride surely makes me want to nap. :lmao:

You could also try the paddle wheel boat around TSI.

Later,
Dan

Ride the monorail loop a few times - or get off and take a stroll around the GF and relax in their lobby.

Take the boat across to FtW/WL - we've done this by staying on board and returning to MK and by getting off and taking a long walk around FTW - depending on how long those naps needed to be and how tired out mom and dad were!

I used to take my son to the baby care center in the MK for a nice cold area, bottle & rocking chair snooze.....There is a living room type area that is very dimly lit, has around 6 rocking chairs & he would fall fast asleep in here

For our most recent trip my youngest nephew napped thru Tiki Room and Carousel of Progress. CM's let me stay for multiple shows/rotations. I may or may not have fallen asleep myself during the second round of CoP :rotfl2: The music has never bothered him and both are cool and dark and are prime nap spots.

Last June I found a quiet, shaded spot right off Main St. to park the stroller while both nephews napped. I sat down on the sidewalk and less than 5 minutes later the big wooden doors opened and out came a marching band. I said, "Are you serious?" before I could stop myself. The drum major kept the band quiet until they passed the stroller and the boys never stirred. Still one of my favorite Disney memories.

That was very sweet of them!

We used the People Mover and my son fell asleep. The CM smiled and motioned for us to stay on when we got to the end. We wet around again and he did thumbs up or down to stay on--we for off and put our son in the stroller. He stayed asleep and we walked down to our lunch reservations. They put us into a corner and we laid him on the bench while we ate! He woke up as we were leaving so we got him a hot dog at Casey's.

We also let him sleep in the stroller and he was fine!

Forgot about the baby center!! It is an awesome place and so nicely air conditioned on a hot day!!

When I was little, I used to fall asleep in Hall of Presidents and Carousel of Progress in MK. My mom still talks about how her, my grandfather or uncle would have to carry me out (apparently a couple times, I'd fall asleep at the end of the day and wouldn't wake up till the next morning). I also used to fall asleep in one of my now favorite Epcot attractions The American Adventure and in Mama Melrose restraurant in HS. Don't ask how I did that. I'm not even sure. :lmao: I guess it goes to prove kids can fall asleep anywhere.

I've heard of some good naps happening on the boat that goes to Tom Sawyer island. No need to get off, you can just stay on and ride as long as you want.

My DD likes to nap on TTA. We started doing that when she was 9. The CM's let us stay on and she slept for a good hour while we rode and rode and rode...I think the motion helped lull her to sleep.

As much as I love CoP, I almost fell asleep during the show on our last trip. I could not keep my eyes open! So that's another great option if the ride isn't full, and I haven't seen more than a dozen or two on there on any trip we've taken in the last decade (we go off season).

Ironically, if we go back to the room for a mid-day break/nap, my DD won't sleep (I will) but she will on TTA.

Hall of presidents!! Lol the movie in France..

Sept 2013 Poly, 2012 Disney Fantasy, BC CL, GF CL, POR, 2011 Poly CL, CR, Poly CL, AKL, 2010 Poly CL, ASMu 2009, SSR 2008, Pop 2006, POR , Asmo 2005, Asmo 2003, offsite 2000, 1999,1989, Poly 1980, offsite 1979

Haha! YES! This was the one daytime nap of our trip.

When my boys were little and we were at MK, we would just hop on the train. You can stay on as long as you like as far as I know. (It was December so crowds were low) Ride around 3-4 times and it kills about an hour. Just enough for the little buggers to get a rest.

My son has been to Disney since he was 6 months old and he would just fall asleep in the stroller if he was tired, but the people movers is a great way to relax and take in the parks with a cool breeze and the motion of the moving car will put them to sleep. There is also Hall of Presidents, Carousel of Progress is another one that put my 17 month to sleep...

Good Luck!:thumbsup2

Good for you on two points;
1 - I'm glad you are preparing for naps - I see SO many parents try to push push push their little ones, then get upset with them when they have a melt down. :sad1:
2 - I've never understood the need to go back to the resort. We always try for a late lunch, especially if it's hot. Then find quite things to do for an hour or so in the AC. To me going all the way back to your resort can take upwards of an hour and SO not be worth the frustration.

When I was a kid Mom used to take me on the People Mover (yep I still call it that ) and to Hall of Presidents for naps in the Magic Kingdom.

My boys have always done well on the train for a few laps or in a quite corner of a Counter Service restaurant. Favorite one being upstairs in Columbia Harbor House. Lots of little nooks up there.

:wizard:

I have a 1 year old and a 3 year old. We go to Disneyland frequently. The 3 year old never naps in his stroller, except at Disney. I take a blanket for each of them, and give them each a sippie/bottle and walk them around until they fall asleep. It is a wonderful day when they both sleep at the same time. However one day I must have walked for an hour and a half trying to nap them and it just wouldn't happen. Finally we gave up and got on the train and of course the 3 year old fell asleep immediately. Anyway, I still try to get them to nap together in the stroller but I no longer worry about it if it doesn't happen. They will eventually fall asleep if they need to, and I enjoy myself more if I don't stress over it. Good luck!

I was also going to suggest the lobby at the GF.

Or go to the Poly. Sit on the beach or use the hammocks.

Ride the railroad. I've seen several children lulled to sleep on it. Heck sometimes I feel like dozing off.
