Napa Rose menu questions

Morning! Three weeks from today I will be recovering from a fabulous meal at Napa Rose the night before! I've been looking over the menu this AM and have some questions for those who've dined there.

Do the entrees come with anything substantial on the side? Do I have to order a side to get any kind of accompaniment?

Is an app, entree, AND a side too much food? It would cost around $100 and I'd be sick if I wound up not being able to eat it all! :scared1:

For the Prix Fixe menu, do they allow substitutions? I do NOT do fish and it's one of the apps on that menu.

Thanks! Looking forward to this meal SO much!!!

Remember that the Prix Fixe menu changes often (weekly I think), so it's quite likely it will be very different from what you currently see on-line when you go. I do not think you can substitute with the Prix Fixe menu.

The entrees usually come with some accompaniment - rice or veggies or pasta or something. I would consider it substantial enough if you've already ordered an appetizer or salad. But I'm not a huge eater, and I save room for dessert. :) If you're in doubt, ask your server to be more specific about what comes with the entree. I highly recommend the Sizzling Beach Rock appetizer if there are two of you, though it comes with shrimp (but you could ask for a substitution on that).

It's a really good restaurant - have a wonderful meal!

Hi,

I love Napa Rose, I absolutely cannot wait to go back there on my trip this November! I hope you enjoy it just as much as I do!

To answer your questions, I’ll try my best. I can’t answer about the prix fixe menu because I’ve never done that before, but if I had to make an educated guess I would assume that they do not do substitutions because it would defeat the purpose of the fixed menu, since if you could substitute everyone would want to substitute one thing or another on it to cater it to their wants. But maybe in case of an allergy they would have a backup item? I would call the restaurant directly and ask ahead of time.

To answer your question about whether the entrees come with anything substantial on the side, this is hard to answer because it is subjective—what may be enough on the side for me may feel miniscule to you, or vice versa. It would be easier to answer this question if I knew what other fine dining restaurants you’ve been to at WDW maybe, because I could make a comparison—I would say what is on the side is very similar to the California Grill in the Contemporary, for example. I can tell you for sure, the only accompaniment you get is exactly what is described on the menu, so if that doesn’t sound like much to you, then that answers your question. When we go out as a party of 4 adults in my family, if a place has a large list of side items (like most fine steakhouses such as Mortons, The Palm, etc) we will get 2 side dishes to share because they are definitely meant for more than one person. At Napa Rose, they only have 3 side items so I’m guessing most people are fine with what comes with the dinner.

It is hard to answer about whether an app, entrée and side would be too much food, and then there’s dessert. Everyone is different, but I would recommend getting an appetizer, dinner and dessert and skip the side unless there is one you really want, like I am dying to try the truffle mac and cheese because I love that at other restaurants, but then again, I have 2 other people to share it with.

Does this help at all? If you have any more questions please let me know.

I was just there last week and can tell you I could have licked the plate if it was an acceptable practice. :lovestruc
We each had an appetizer, farmer's market soup(yum) and the entree and we were on the border between fine and stuffed. Desert would have thrown me over the edge. We are not big eaters so that might help you. The soup was delicious and kept us from getting too stuffed. I noticed there were sides on the menu and I think I might do that next time just to keep the costs down since it is pricey! Enjoy!

Our waiter was Rodney and he was wonderful! Hope you can get him while you are there!
