Napa Rose Menu Question

For all you Napa Rose regulars out there:

I booked the chef's table. Requested seats 5 & 6. They said they would make a note but that they don't guarantee it. I was looking at some reviews on another site last night and have a question...

The review said that when you sit at the chef's table to not even bother looking at the menu. That the chef will come over, ask your likes & dislikes and create menus especially for you. Is this true? If it is true, is it the same price as the Vintner's menu?

My son doesn't like set menus too often as he likes to choose his own food, but I know he'd be open to it if the chef was going make him dishes based on his likes...

Thanks for any insight you may have!

Here is one of a number of links for the Napa Rose at the Grand Californian, it contains a number of reviews:

Here is their contact information as well, which is also in the above link, I would suggest calling the dining establishment with any real specific questions and concerns, so as to not cause any disappointments, that may arise without prior knowledge.

Hmmm. When I booked our ressies for the counter for our Aug. trip, I asked for seats 5 & 6 as well. I was never told that the seat numbers were not guaranteed. Anyone else have experience with this?

I was told by Disney Dining in may that they are no longer assigning specific seating requests on the phone. For specific requests it must be done at the time of PS with the Host/Hostess on staff. They stated that this was for all DLR restaurants.

Disney Dining could not make my reservations for the chefs counter. I had to call the restaurant itself. This was about a month ago.

I called the restaurant directly too. She didn't say, "it's not guraranteed" - I was paraphrasing. What she said is, "We'll make note of your seat request and do our best to accomodate you if possible". The reservation for chef's table was confirmed.

Can someone please give me some more details? I just read some reviews and am thinking maybe this would make a special experience for my hubby's bday Aug 5th.Is it too late to make ressies? What is the menu like, especially for a person who doesn't like seafood?

DH and I did this last October when we went without the kids. We also had seats 5 and 6 - I would call the restaurant directly, that's what I did. Chef Sutton came over and talked with DH and asked him some questions about his likes and dislikes and picked the food out for him. I am not so adventurous (no seafood either for me) so I just picked what I wanted from the regular menu, no problems. Not sure how they charged it, can;t remember.

It was super fun and a really neat experience watching everyone work in the kitchen. Before dessert, we called the pastry chef over and had her pick the desserts for us!

There are many good informative reviews from my first link in my previous post.

It is not too late to make reservations.
